Looks like a nice car! Hardtop too! If I could do it all over again, I would have bought something like this rather than gutting my car at 30k miles....what a waste. I hope you find a nice home for it. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif)

That's what I was looking for when I started shopping (hardtop 6 speed), too bad my wife wouldn't let me buy another! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Hey Gary, what's the history on your car? I mentioned it today to a guy with a crusty 3rd gen GTA at the Cumberland autox, and he seemed interested. His only question about your car was if it had ever been autocrossed. ??? I get the feeling he thinks his car (an '87 305 TPI) doesn't have it for F Stock. I'll see him next Sunday at the DC-Region autox at FedEx Field.

He would have to replace some stuff, though, if he wanted to keep running FS. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But your car ain't too far down the slippery slope of ESP.

Pat-
I've autocrossed this car probably 5 or 6 times, and ran it at the track for two total days. I did make room for 315 width tires, so the fenders are rolled and all that, which could be a concern in FS.

Exactly how crusty is his GTA? And is it a 5 speed? If he's looking to get rid of it, I might be interested. I need a 305 TPI and a 5 speed to go into a CMC race car, and I'd like to just find a beat up (cheap) complete car. Maybe we could work something out?

The car's actually in pretty good shape. I don't know the mileage, but it's probably in better shape body-wise than my '90 Firebird. His car at least still has the original paint. Yes it's a 5 speed but has T-tops.

I'll talk to him Sunday and mention your car again. The only thing on your car that can't be undone for F Stock is the rolled fenders. But it won't matter if he's doing local stuff and most "national" F Stockers won't care anyway. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

That's my opinion about it too.

Thanks for the help Pat!

Still for sale. If this car had t-tops, I could have sold it 10 times. Thats what I get for buying a hardtop I guess.

hmm... well Gary.. are you interested in a 1989 IROC? i would love to work out some kind of a trade with you

from factory it was a 305tpi 5speed with the borg warner 9 bolt rear end.. dark blue Hard top

springs and sway bars are stock...

not stock components:
Koni Sport dampers
Ground Control Camber plates
G2 Aluminum Panhard rod
Hooker Super Comp long tube headers
disc brake 10 bolt with a new T2R and new Motive 3.42 Ring/pinion

the biggest draw back for you, is the fact that i blew the 305 at an autocross and i bought Mark Madarash's L98(2 time nat champ motor).. the motor is strong and it was professionally built making use of all the tricks that ESP allows...
the motor does not have an LT1 style intake on it though(as Mark was running)... i bought an edlebrock TPI style intake which isn't any good past 5k rpm..
the peak horsepower would not be a problem for CMC with this intake, but the Torque might be

anyway.. that's just a LITTLE information for you... if you want to know more then we should talk on the phone

Thanks, but I'm not really interested in getting another f-body right now.

I'm thinking about getting myself another vette, something in the 15k price range. Also might want a full-size Chevy truck. Those are about the only things I'd consider working trades on.

Still for sale. Lots of local interest, but not much local money unfortunately. I'll consider reasonable offers.

If I could have worked out the details, I'd already be on my way to get it. Damn, I'd love a hardtop 2nd car.

PM's sent back to those that PM'ed me.

I'm also still open to deals involving trades. Full size 4wd truck, or possibly an LT1 f-body that could be a candidate for a CMC race car.
