...lucky dog!
I was just talking today to my dad that we should go to that race in the next year or two..... Let me know how it is.... Is it crowded? Hate crowds.... How is the viewing? Lots going on during lull's in track time? I here there is NOTHING near the track... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) |

I've been to every USGP since it returned to the US. The crowds ar not too bad, but that could depend on were you sit. I generally only go out for race day, though I did go out for the Thursday walk-about the first year that they had it.

I went the first year and have had no interest in going back. Our seats sucked (for $95 each) and I just wasn't impressed (deciding that I'd rather watch it on TV). But, many have had better experiences.

I went last year. Could care less if I ever went back again. The 500 is much better IMHO. F1 was pretty much follow the leader. I was glad when it was over. As far as the crowds are concerned, it's much less crowded at the F1.

I went the first two years (froze my butt off, one of them), and decided that I'd given Tony George too much of my money. I won't be going back.
I've heard that someone is working to get a 2nd US race, possibly in Las Vegas. I'll be going to that one (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/thumbup.gif) |

Anyone been to a Canadian GP? I hear they're usually better than the US GP. Montreal is supposed to be a pretty cool city and the track is more interesting (IMO).

If things work out, I plan to visit Eugenio and maybe match the trip with a race weekend for the Canadian F1 race (he lives down the street from the circuit, or nearly so). |

I doubt there would be two races in the eastern half of the US - I think TG pretty much has Indy locked in for the foreseeable future.
I'd love to see F1 at Road America, but I don't think it's up to FIA requirements. Long Beach or Laguna Seca would be very cool, but I'd put my money on Vegas if there is another US race. |

man, my seats are great. I am 20 feet before the start/finish about halfway up in the lower set of bleachers.
my parking spot is right across the street from my seats... like a 2 minute walk. The coolest thing was the other cars using the track. There were Manard series IRL cars, Porsche Supercup cars, and Formula BMWs doing practice sessions all day. Wery cool stuff! This is my first GP. |

I was 200 feet down from you (towards turn 1) and up just high enough that we couldn't see the jumbotron and couldn't get any info about the race (I was on my cell phone to a friend who was watching it on TV to get info about the race....which I wish I would have been doing instead).

I know what you guys mean, I don't even go to Sears to watch the NASCAR race one hour away. Don't like crowds! Sears is a decent place to watch though. Let's face it, you can't get a better view of road racing than from the tv coverage! On the other hand I hate oval NASCAR coverage, they zoom in too much on the cars so you can't see who is doing what a lot of the time. As a racer you can only be impressed by big car big sound up close for so long!

Last year at the 24 hrs of Daytona, there were some folks in a motor home with a satellite setup so they could sit by the banking on the oval and watch the speed channel coverage (that's the way to do it).

Ahhh! It is not that bad! Kev you got bum seats. If you had better seats your point of view maybe different.
Plus, I have been here all week - watching everything set, all the practice sessions, pit walkthroughs, etc etc. I have tons and tons of pics. Probably 2gigs of pics already. And will probably have 900 megs from tomorrow (I took 770 today and 770 megs yesturday). We got great seats and great parking. |

DRAMA!
Do you think they should slow them down in T13? I don't! If your car is not ready for a race than park it! But with that said, i would race and change my 1 tire half way through and take the risk! |

....you NOW KNOW why I HESITATE to give my money to the likes of Tony George and Bernie Eclstone (although Tony is innocent in this one...), both are power hungry "PROBLEMS" in the racing world....
Racing would be better off if both of them crashed on the "Lost" island and got eaten by the invisible monster... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Good thing Bernie left the track early like the PU$$Y he is....he would have had trouble leaving with his skin intact on this one.... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif) Michelin should have brought the right tire, this is not a new track to them! But than again only toyota had a problem, and only one was on T13! The other was under braking in the infield (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) This was a power struggle between ALL involved, and VERY political as always in F1! Bernie was down on grid before the race, he left right after that? |

Very dissappointing for all I am sure with the exception of the third place guy - didn't understand his enthusiasm! A lame race is a lame race. All avoidable it seems, political crap won today!
Even lamer were the fans throwing objects on the track endangering the drivers, I am sure they would not be doing that if they knew how dangerous that was. Someone should find that guy they kept showing on the replay, grabbing a can out of garbage for the sole purpose of throwing it on track. How would he like it if everyone decided, for no reason, to pelt his car while he was driving on the freeway? That is how involved the drivers were with the decisions today. Why take it out on the drivers in such a careless manner? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant2.gif) |

...you know...I turned the channel to CBS, and there WAS A PERFECTLY ENJOYABLE CHAMP CAR RACE on....
...maybe Europe (and various others) can keep there traveling flea bag of a circus...after YEARS of being bored to death by Ferrari and Micheal Shumacher...to let politics DESTROY a race of this magnitude is stupid......damn, it is just so much stupidity..... ...and yes Eclstone left the track after a few laps....the IDIOT should have the balls to be man enough to stand up to all the press and EXPLAIN what he did..... |
