Ok guys, I know many of you are in the Nashville area (or so it seems) and since we are a roving band of track addicts, it's only natural that some of you will want to come play at the open track at the AV8SS race Sept 3rd and 4th. I'm trying to make it and I need your help. My friends at AV8SS challenged me to find 3 cars (other than myself) to come for the open track time. So, you guys have to help me out here (I hate to lose..... (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant.gif) ). Who's coming?
Info here: http://www.av8ss.com/ From the AV8SS site: QUOTE To all Racers,Open Track Participants and fans of road racing, please come join us for the second to last American V-8 Supercar Series (AV8SS) weekend on Sept. 3/4 at the beautiful Nashville Superspeedway complex. Be there for a great weekend of spectating and competing with the added benefit of the great Nashville area and all it has to offer for the rest of the family. As Monday is a holiday, you do not even have to hurry home after Saturday and Sundays festivities at the track. We will be running a modified "roval" utilizing the high banks of turns 3 and 4.
Racers- We will have dedicated slots all weekend for practice and qualifying but the track will be open to you all day, both days. We will again have a "double header" race format on Sunday. Again, you will have access to the track all day both days! We are offering this for $200.00 per day or $350.00 for the entire weekend! This will include a family picnic at the track Saturday evening. Eligible drivers are those that possess a current racing license from any recognized and sanctioned road race organization. Purse money and prizes will be in excess of $4000.00. Open Track Participants- You will also have unlimited use of the track except for the race car only sessions which will only account for about 2 hours a day! We are offering this for $125.00 per day or $225.00 for the entire weekend. You too are invited to the picnic. Two full days of open track and free food too. Such a deal. Car requirements will include a roll bar( convertibles only) and safety harness (unless factory seats and belts are installed) with helmets. Car instruction- We will have a limited number of slots for those wishing to ride with an instructor. The price will be $250.00 for the weekend. Test and tune- Even if you do not have an AV8SS legal car but do have a race car, come out and dial your car in for future events. How else could you get so much track time for so little money? The cost will be the same as for the racing group. Our first event at the facility was a great success. The track staff and safety crews are second to none as it is the same crew that host the IRL and Busch events. Our first event was absolutely incident free. If you haven't been to this venue I think you will be surprised how good a "roval" can be. Admission for all is free!!!!!!!!! Camping is available as are garages. |

Nobodys up for a track day (or two)?
I looked at the schedule and there is 8 hours scheduled for HPDE/track time. That's a "bunch" and seems to make this a great deal. |

I'll have plenty of parts in the trailer on the way down. I blew chunks out of 3 pistons with the turbo setup... Scratched the cylinder walls, dinged up the exhaust wheel. I did get my heads back from the shop a couple of weeks ago. Bent 2 exhaust valves, and the junky springs on them were shot after 5 months so it's got a fresh set of PRC platinums on it. (the springs were supposed to be a fresh set of 987's but I'm not so sure about that.) So a block and set of pistons would probably do it. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Forged preferably. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Seriously, I do appreciate the offer! |

I'm going to look at a red t-top '98 TA this week. It's all stock, down to the air filter, silencer, tires/wheels, leather interior, exhaust, shocks, etc. Automatic too.
But if I was to get it, and do a little base tuning on it (some more timing and lean up the a/f just a tad), it might be worth bringing out. Except it would be on street brakes and street tires too. I haven't been racing all year though. It would be good to do something... Is there a F-stock class or something like it? I could put my 35mm front bar on it at least. Brakes might still be a problem. |

QUOTE (ERVRCG @ Aug 29 2005, 08:05) John, do you have a place to keep a trailer and family incase of Hurricane? The trailer could sit in the road in front of the house. (in a subdivision) I've got an extra bedroom, small den, and bathroom downstairs. Sleeper sofa in the den. |
