I just got home from Norwalk raceway in OH. The 6 cars met there for 2 day of competition. We started off with a carshow that was judged on both fit/finish, and level of fabrication/planning of a results based package( a pile of high dollar parts was not a instant win). Then we moved onto a drag race. This is where I brought a knife to a gunfight. I finished 5th with the 6th place car broke on the line, but ran slower times than me in the past. I ran a 12.6 @ 112 N/A. There were 3 of us in the 12's 12.6 for me, 12.5 for the 68 camaro, and 12.3 for the 66 corvair. My N2O kit melted the feedline on a header tube before the dragracing started. 2nd in the dragrace was the totaly hand fabricated AMX witha winston cup level SBC 400 making well over 600 hp. He never had it to a track before and ran a 10.4 witha speed in the 130's with a 2.2 60 foot and no clue what he was doing( no helmet or rollbar!) The car has also gone over 200mph on public highways. Then the bigdog hit the track. A 90 mustang GT convert that makes well over 1300hp without the N2O. It runs a 347ci motor with A HUGE vortech making 28lbs of boost and a 175 hit of N2O. He left the line off idle on MT dragradials ( no boost built, or transbrake). He ran a 9.42 @148.8 mph (his personal best).
We then went onto a 60-0 braking test. I thought I had this won with all 3 of my runs coming in at 104 ft with only a few inches of variance. Then the AMX which has a C5 corvette brakes and C4 vette ABS system fabricated to work in the old car pulled off one 101ft stop. His others were in the 110 area, but they used your 1 best stop for the results. The other cars did not have ABS and were in the 130 ft area, with the 90 mustang having brake balance issues finally pulled in a 149 ft best stop.
The second day was to include a Autox that I was favored heavily to win, and a 100 mile ride and drive test. We woke to a rainy day and the owners of norwalk raceway would not let us run the autox. So we did the ride test 1st hoping for an end to the rain. The drive went on for 120 miles and 4 hours, until they gave up on clearing weather and dropped the autox.
At the awards it was no surprize when the AMX got the win, but I was shocked when I was announced with a 2nd place finish. The event will be the cover story for the Feb issue of carcraft with a ton of pics.

Sounds like if the autocross would have happened, your results may have been even better. Second is downright awesome!
