I have the following pairs of Hypercoil 2.5" race springs for sale. I think all of them are used, though not all by me (some came from Ebay).

525x10 (sold) 550x10 (sold) 550x8 (sold) $50 per pair, plus shipping. This post has been edited by sgarnett: Nov 9 2006, 05:36 PM |

I am very interested in a set of 550's for my dad's new (to him) 01 SS. I just (today) received my new springs for my car and will have a set of 175lb 12" rears to give him. Do you know what would give the proper, matching ride height with an otherwise stock front end to match these rears that I have? Thanks, Keith This post has been edited by KeithO: Oct 10 2006, 02:08 AM |

I'm not sure I understand the question. The 2.5" springs require coilover hardware, which will be adjustable.

The 550x10 are probably the best option for your father. I would expect somewhere around 2~3 turns of preload to be about right for a ride height of 26.25 at the front fenders of a stock Camaro on street tires. I'd start at 2 1/3 for 26.25, or 3 turns even for roughly 26.4. BTW, I don't set up coilovers with a tape measure. I do it by touch, and matching turns. I turn the collar up slowly and lightly with my finger tips just until there is no slack (when the spring doesn't move when lightly jiggled). From there, I mark the position of the collar with a Sharpie and then turn both sides a precise and equal number of turns to preload each spring exactly the same, regardless of any slight perch differences side-to-side. Using that method, I can get the corner weights and ride height almost dead-on on the first try. My coilover sleeves were actually made by Koni and are probably metric, but they are pretty close to 1/8" pitch, which should be about the same as GC. |

Hmmm - I guess I never looked at the stock setup. Based on your response, you are saying that these springs can't go into the stock setup?

That is correct. These springs require coilover hardware of some form.

Everything arrived today. Good stuff. Hypercoil springs and that Coleman stuff looks like high-quality stuff. Thanks. I pulled my existing rear springs and will give the stuff I got from you along with my old rear springs to my dad. Gotta get that SS up to spec! |
