The last few I have sent Welcome PM's too.
It would be really nice if these could be sent automatically to new members when they register. Just a simple welcome letter with a reminder that participation in discussion is what makes the board grow. Also could include a reminder to update profile info and add a short signature. Just an idea. |

You're going to be a busy guy if you send welcome PMs to every new member. I've been trying to do my part by responding to postings when I see them if I think I can contribute. Until we get a few more members it's easy for questions to remain unanswered for awhile. Quick response to questions is what will make this board grow the fastest I think.
What I'd recommend is starting a "sticky" that is just above General Discussion in the forum listings. It should contain a FAQ for new members. Little things like what this board is for, general advice to new members, etc. We then need to start a good links page that includes recommended vendors, competition organizations, etc. The original http://www.f-body.org had a good FAQ page, but it's probably a little out of date now. |

That idea is even better. That way it (the FAQ) can be read by anyone at anytime.
I like the links page idea to. We could link to some of the GRM tech articles on a few things. Along with Brent Frankners 'whats it weigh' page. And others.......... |

These are all good ideas guys. we need a sticky FAQ post or even a dedicated FAQ forum in the general section.
There may be a way to send a welcome message with the e-mail verification function when a person registers, otherwise maybe Lonnie wants to be the official greeter? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |
