I just got "wind" that when one rolls their fenders accomodate 315's (rub) that the paint will start showing cracks, after a period of time.

Are most in here, who run 315's, seeing this issue ?

.....concerned future user. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

you have to take a razor and cut the paint before you roll the lip. most of the paint on the lip will flake off, but shouldnt go beyond the cut you made prior to rolling. you've seen my car, and my fenders inner lip has been rolled.

I am running 315's and have yet to roll my fenders. the only time I have any rub issues is under HEAVY suspension loads.

But with the LG coil over kit coming, i may be rolling them to facilitate a lower stance.

This is one of the things keeping me away from 315s. I suspect that there will also be some fatigue cracks in the rust-resistant zinc plating (a big deal for cars like mine that see salt).

I have heard that gently heating the paint with a blow dryer will help keep it from cracking.

i put about 10k miles on my car with rolled fenders... i didn't see any cracking... and i didn't take any special measures to keep it from happening...

i used a heavy piece of pipe wraped with duct tape to bash the fender lip into place..
and then later when an episode of axle hop shot my tire up into the fender lip and pulled it back down.. i just used some channel locks with rubber handles to smash it back in place...

never had cracked paint...

rocks chips are the real paint problem...

don't forget, you actually looked at my car when you thought about buying it... you probably didn't even notice! mostly because the rest of the car looked great

I have (had) some cracking in the fenderwell, but used touch up paint to seal it back up. It has held up so far, and made the crack, which was more like a chip, disappear.

The lips on my car cracked in 2 or 3 places each side. Cracks were about 1 inch in length. Some paint chiped.

Used a hairdryer and don't think it did shit.

Went over with several coats of touch-up.

Still worth it! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Thanks for all the responses.
...gives me a better idea of what I might (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) be getting into.

You don't need to mess up the fenders on that pretty bird Andrew. 315's are grossly over rated (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)
