OK, i have search and found some good info but need more clear pictures of where the hood pins should be mounted. This is a fiberglass pin on hood.

I have figured out that I will need to mount 2 of the pins on the radiator support area, should those be closer to the center or where the stock hood 'snubbers' were? (which is not the rad support...)

And pix of how you mounted the pins for the rear section of the hood. I have seen an 'L' bracket made but would like more detail pix.

Granted, this is not for a RR car, drag car, but you guys have to pin these hoods so know you have ideas.

Thanks, SH

I have four on the radiator support. The outer ones are easy. The inner ones I had to grind out a little bit of the underside of the radiator support to get the nut on down there.

For the ones closest to the windshield I used some aluminum L stock and attached it to the mounts for the hood struts. Alan Blaine has his on the strut tower, which would work equally as well. Alan also has additional pins on a strut tower brace, but we ain't got one of them. We're content with 6 pins. There's a thread around here somewhere with some info.

Here's a couple:

I thought there was another one, but I didn't find it quickly.

You can roughly see where ours are mounted in this photo:

The larger version should give you a better idea. And this is just how we did it. There are other solutions.

Shon - Here is how I mount the front hood pins: For a FG hood I add a second pair on the core support further inboard. The lip of the core support is quite thin so I reinforce it with 6061 angle popped to the sheet metal with 3/16" SS rivets. Jules 4th gen:

Another pair towards the rear on the shock tower: My car:

Same deal in the rear, allows you to pull the hatch latch structure: Jules car again:

Here's a topside pic - my ITE/AIX car: This is my first composite hood - this one is fiberglass on coremat, and is sturdy, but required some backside bracing that pushed the weight up to about 20#. My CF version is less than 1/2 the weight. Middle rear pins are mounted on a Hotchkiss STB.
