I love how they can't not criticize the car (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Flimsy bumpers? Come on....there has to be some threshold for impact resistance, sheesh.

And he made the Z sound like it was complete junk on the inside....maybe in relative terms to the $160K Ferrari but in absolute terms I don't think its nearly as bad as he made it out to be.

I think they need to do a review on the Caddy V-series.

He wasn't that impressed with the CTSv too.. I believe he said it was good around the track, but made a point that he felt it asn't any better than the high end Morano, which was still much cheaper.

Every US writer that has reviewed the Z06 has remarked on how livable the car is on the street. Either they're all unrefined oafs or the Top gear guy is a pansy-ass.

I'ld go with the Top Gear guy just being a ass. He certainly doesn't show any ability to drive it properly in that video...what the hell was he doing....drifting????? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/bs.gif)

Even if it was track-only, for the price you could by a base C6 for daily and a Z for the track and still save about $50K vs. the Ferarri, LOL.

That show is more for entertainment value than anything else. I think they have to find something wrong with every car they review, and they were hard up to find anything significantly wrong with the Z06, except that it is American made . . . Remmember that he's talking about 160,000 pounds not american dollars. So that amounts to $301,338.89. So with an msrp of $64,890 it cost is 4.6 times less than the ferrari.

You guys got to understand british humor. Most of what they do is entertainment. But they will also give credit where credit is due. Clarkson is a DIE HARD Ferrari guy, he lives and breathes Ferrari. So when he said he would take the Z over the 550 that was a HUGE compliment.

When it comes to complaints, they very RARELY have a car they don't moan about. when they did the veyron, clarkson was bagging on it the whole time. And in all seriousness, he hit the nail on the head with the nav system. A race breed car with nav.........come on. And considering they are usually testing mega dollar cars with the best of everything in them, the vette does come off as chinsey in comparison with the interior parts. However he wouldnt stop commenting on the amount of power and performance you get for your $.

when you watch this show you have to read between the lines a bit. Clarkson also talked about how much the Ford GT was a pile, but guess what, he bought one for himself.

I agree with NataSS Inc. I know a few British guys and the sense of humor seems to be genetic, I think there is such a thing as the British humor gene. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I love the Olympic themed show where they took the car and rocket boosted it to do a sky jump. They definitely are lucky bastard that get to play with a lot of neat toys. I think some of their comments on American cars are very true and hilarious.

I had a supervisor that was from liverpool awhile back, and yes their humour is a bit odd, the same as the show though. It seems the only cars they really say is a blast to drive while the complaining takes a back seat are the ones with absurd amounts of power.

I agree whole heartily. My father in law owned a XJS not the V10 I think it was the intermediate supercharged version. I think it was from the last year before the Ford buyout. It was convertible and I must say it was fun to drive, but it was temperamental. You had to stop, put it in park then pull the parking break if you wanted to take the top down and even then it was temperamental. Also when you pull the parking brake it doesn't stay up it like you expect it to, the stick goes back down but the brake is still indeed engaged and sometimes you could not get the bloody thing disengaged. They wanted to charge him rent at the repair shop because it spent more time there than in his own garage.

I love that show and wish the american magazines would test cars like they do.

You know I still remember when the first C5 Z06 came out and C&D I believe brought it out to play with a bunch of highend exotics. They had a group of well qualified drivers for every car and raced them all at the same time. Most people questioned what a Corvette was doing there against all those uber special cars. By the end they were all wondering how a $55k car was spanking the every living crap out of all their rediculously expensive cars. So they can complain all they want to about the bumpers and the interior while they drive their high end exotic all the while looking at Corvette tailights.

What?!?!? Just as soon as I get my MGB running I'm going to drive up there and kick your ass (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Actually, it does run, but has (surprise!) an electrical problem and (surprise!) some rust. But the really big question, to me, is why cars from England didn't get tops that stood a chance of keeping rain out (Miata tops are everything a British top is not). Maybe it's just the arid English weather ....
