Hahaha. I love it.
The stereotype doesn't bother me though... I wonder if it's because I went grocery shopping tonight in work boots, cut offs, crappy t-shirt and a Jegs hat. All I'm missing is the mullet (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rotf.gif) |

This was made by a local rock station in Pittsburgh. If you look close, there is a shot of a PA plate. The Indians shirt is to make fun of Cleveland (it's a Pittsburgh past time).
They do a weekly joke talk show called "Mullet Talk" on that radio station. Good stuff. This post has been edited by KeithO: Jun 9 2006, 10:13 AM |

I hate Neil Young (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Because? He's done some pretty interesting things- especially as a parent. I realize that he's fairly upfront about his politics, but at least he doesn't try to hide them by trying to be PC. Just curious on my part. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dunno.gif) This post has been edited by jensend: Jun 9 2006, 12:05 PM |

I thought his whole schtick was PC..."southerners are racist bigots"..."Bush lied people died", etc. He's not real fond of Christians either, or at least the ones he disagrees with. The song Southern Man, although written in a time that there was some very wrong and nasty stuff going on, was one of the worst cases of stereotyping I've ever heard of. Neil Young is cool with the young hippie types because he's just another in the long line of make peace not war counter culture heros to a bunch of pot heads. I still like Lynard Skynard's response: I hope Neil Young will remember, a southern man don't need him around anyhow. I digress..... |

I think there is something very wrong about a mullet thread that digresses to a politics thread. Anyone else find that truly strange?
Does Neil Young have a mullet or a camaro? Am I expected to smoke pot if I drive a Camaro? Is this a yankee thing I don't understand? I feel so inadequate. |

I've lived in Mid America up until about two months ago. Going from nowhere ville MO to Dallas TX I felt fine, from Dallas to NYC felt like I was in another country. Trying to understand a male yankee is like a southern guy trying to understand southern women, forget about it, a southern guy trying to understand a yankee woman........all I can say is "damn".
I don't personally think it's a stretch for it to bring up politics for a bit and I havn't even been tainted by the north yet. |

Did someone say the "P" word? I'm in!!
Honestly, I follow the 1st Amendment to the letter. I think that everyone should be allowed to express their opinions. But, when I disagree with them (vehemently, sometimes), they need to realize that I'm doing the same as them. If we can both do it amicably - great. If they get mad and upset, then I'll get mad and upset. For instance, when I see someone burning a flag, I figure that it is their right to burn what they perceive as the symbol of American government corruption. Conversely, I expect them to not get mad when I set fire to what I perceive to be the symbol of their civil disobedience . . . which is usually their unwashed hair or a peace-symbol t-shirt that they are wearing. With apologies to Gordon Lightfoot, that was pretty funny. I always like that line from "Sweet Home Alabama" myself, ....."I heard Mister Young sing about Her, I heard ol' Neil put Her down, I hope Neil Young will remember, A southern man don't need him around anyhow..." Other than "Southern Man", I liked most of Young's music. Being from Virginia, when I travel up north, I've had folks comment on my accent. (I had a rather attractice waitress in Milwaukee tell me she "Loved my accent, and could listen to it all night"). But when I've been to Alabama, Georgia, etc, I'm asked "Where about up north are you from?". To which I reply, "Sir, I am from the Capital City of the Confederacy". I hate Neil Young (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/rant.gif) (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Because? For me, entertainment and politics don't mix, even though they can be interchangeable. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) When I see someone from "the industry", especially one that is popular, on stage explaining why a certain politician deserves my vote, I typically will look at other candidates. I've worked in the R/TV/F industry since '82. Most of the folks you see on the wide screen and on the boob tube are mindless, heartless and emotionless robots who can't formulate an original thought without the aid of an associate producer and an audio prompter. JMHExperience Andy ... sorry for the hi-jack. OT: OK fess up ... who here has actually had a mullett? (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/whip.gif) |

I never actually had a mullet. I wanted one really bad, though my parent's said no.
Actually, I think that's even sadder . . . |
