I'm trying to get my Formula classed as a recreational vehicle with my insurrance company since I have it registered as a collector's car. They asked for the price when new! (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Does anyone have a source for this information, or remember what these cars cost when new?

The car is an '88 Formula, 305, 5 speed, hardtop, with manual door locks and windows.

You can get the original sticker from Pontiac Historical Services. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) My '89 Formula was $16k when I bought it new back then. Not sure on my '91, I got the packet from PHS on it though. Lots of interesting info!

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to go with $16K since my car is an '88, not a '98! I'm trying to get CHEAPER insurrance. I would look into the Pontiac Historical Services but I would like to get a quote soon. Also, the car is probably going to be inspected with pictures taken so they'll know just how ugly it really is.

What do you currently use the car for?

I mainly autocross the car, but it doubles as a dust collector.

If you can find a car magazine from that year it may have the cost listed in a report.

One of the colleges I went to had old car magazines on microfiche (I spent a lot of time at that library...too bad I wasn't learning anything that could help my grades) and they had that kind of stuff.

www.thirdgen.org may have some answers also.

Good luck!

Costas
cars and such...

I think I'll stick with 16 grand since that sounds about right and I'm sure they're just asking for a rough estimate.
