I'm posting this as a heads up in case anyone just has to have a good CMC car for next year (aiming at the folks on the East Coast). We don't really have to sell this car, so it isn't going to be a steal. Anyway, here it is:
89 Firebird Fresh 305 TPI (2 events) Underdrive pulleys 2.5" y-pipe into 3" exhaust with muffler, turndown in front of axle T5 trans with Hurst shifter Fresh built rearend, new Moser axles, new Torsen T2R (2 events) 3.23 gears Baer 12" front brakes with PBR calipers Front brake cooling ducts LT1 rear brakes Braided brake lines front and rear Wilwood brake proportioning valve, driver accessible 1050 lb. front springs 225 lb. rear springs WS6 sway bars Bilstein struts Koni SA rear shocks Ground Control (IIRC) camber plates Ground Control front control arm bushings Rodended rear control arms Double rodended panhard bar ATL Fuel Cell New fuel pump (2 events) K&N cone air filter setup Adjustable fuel pressure regulator Accusump Aluminum radiator Subframe connectors Modified Autopower rollcage Sparco race seat Fresh G-Force FIA Certified Camlock Harness (good for 5 years) Quick disconnect steering wheel Autometer gauges and shiftlight Low oil pressure light Firebottle Halon system Optima battery, relocated to rear Lightweight GTA wheels Shaved Toyo RA-1 tires (2 events) This car has a lot of good, fresh parts on it. Two wins and a second out of four races since I put it on the track as a CMC car. Turned consistent 1:28's in last race at Summit Point, still has some time left on the table. Should be good for consistent 1:27's at Summit when driven to its potential (I'm still knocking the rust off after a 3 year hiatus from racing). It is not the prettiest car out there. It has scratches, dings, and dents. It received a nice bump from a FFR Cobra at the last race, behind the right rear wheel, which we will be fixing. But, it is a mechanically strong car. We'd be looking for close to $10k right now, which does depend somewhat on whether we include our second set of GTA wheels and some other spares. If that's too much, so be it...I'll just keep racing it next year. The car sounds like it's setup safe and should be easy to go fast in.
I do have a question for you though, what fuel pump are you running and how did you mount it? Most of the guys I race with are running carbs so I haven't really figured out a good way to stay EFI with a fuel cell. Thanks and good luck on your sale! |

Its an external fuel pump, mounted inside the subframe rail as it turns up in front of the rear axle. IIRC, its a Walbro pump. |

Ok, its official now. This car is for sale. Still pretty much the same as in the original listing. We did put new pistons in because the skirt broke off one of the originals, and it now has a Canton oil pan rather than an Accusump. I'm now tweaking on the setup since I'm driving it a lot closer to its potential now, so suspension config may be a little different. I'm getting ready to put a new set of Koni's on it as well as a few other items. The car is to the point that its pretty reliable, no dnf's since my first race last year when I ran it out of fuel.
So far this year I have two wins, three seconds, and a fifth place. The only reason for the "low" fifth place finish was that I spun off the track when we were racing in the snow at VIR. Also set a new track record at VIR full course. |

Looks like a nice car with a good foundation for someone to start with! Good luck selling the car. Just sold my '84 TA CMC car to another West coast CMCer, Pat Stone. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The firebird is still available, though probably not for long. A few things have changed such as addition of a rear spoiler, front breather conversion, front air dam. The car is dialed in, just broke the old CMC record at Summit Point by almost one second. And won the points championship. Seven wins out of fourteen races this year.
