I recently requested a quote from my agent through Hagerty insurance. this is for my collector 1987 GTA which crosses the age line into antiquedom this year.
Hagerty is a well know carrrier for this type of insurance (for those that don't know) This car is a standard GTA model but has the 5.7 TPI motor and digital dash. Those SOB's are trying to tell me this is classed as an EXOTIC car with the likes of Ferrari and Prowler. Im insuring the car for $7000 declared value for goodness sakes. I only drive it 400 miles a year. Sheesh. what a bunch of %%&^$$#%^^ Bock |

Bock, what kind of $ were they asking? Sound terrible! Well that is the beauty of Classic Insurance after all.... $271 per year. You're probably thinking Im making a big deal outta nuthin, but it would have been $227 if it wasn't such an EXOTIC car.... hehe As an aside, 5 years ago I insured my 1969 z/28, RS collector car with the same bunch. The declared value at the time was $18000 (I sold it for 25K, it would be 40K now if I still owned it). The premium for that was $150 per year. Ha, it makes me laugh it is so dumb. I think I will go out this weekend and buy me some EXOTIC fried chicken for dinner and maybe even an exotic ice cream cone. Bock (some people will do anything to get another 44 bucks) Folken |

I didn't think domestic autos were classics until 25 years, and imports are classic at 20 years.
Does this vary from state to state? |

I had my 2000 T/A insured with them for $25k replacement value.. $250 ded's and it was $532/year... had them for 2 years.
Then they decided that I was too young for them @ 27 and pumped my rates to $1700/year. F-that. They are telling me I have to be 30 to get the rate drop again... thats in 2 weeks... Ignants... I'm not sure if I am/would insure my now 'race car' Do any of you who strictly track your cars, insure them? |

I have my '82 Z and '67 RS insured through Hagerty... the '82 is old enough not to be considered an EXOTIC by hagerty... We tried on my buddies '02 'Hawk and they gave us the same EXOTIC B.S.
Have you checked into Grundy ??? I did some online quotes with them and I may be switching this spring... ~DaVe |
