The new discussion on the wisdom of 190 mph without a full cage in the Texas Mile inspired me to share this, but I didn't want to highjack the thread.

How would 253 mph with nothing but airbags and leather seats make you feel?

No problem. At 253 mph, a crash would be invariably fatal regardless of the safety equipment in the car. The stresses and "G" loads on the body would do the job even if, by some miracle, the vehicle's cockpit maintained its integrity. What I found most disturbing about the video was the driver's frequent shift of his vision to the camera/speedo. At those speeds concentration and visual focus are life and death issues. Hopefully, the camera was positioned so that he didn't have to look too far away from the car's travel direction. At least they have a creditable claim to the show's title...
