There's nothing like going to my first track event of the year in Summit Point, WV only to be leaving in heavy rain with 50mph winds... They are talking 6+ inches of rain around here, but hopefully it will be better the closer to WV I get! Tomorrow is a high of 46F, but Tuesday should be 52F. I don't have rain tires, so if it's raining tomorrow I'll be sitting out.

Anyone else in the Northeast heading to the track?

The club I'm a part of (Autocrossers Inc.) had an autocross in Aberdeen, MD on Sunday. It was medium to heavy rain in the morning and got a little lighter around 2:30pm. The forecast said 34 to 46 degrees F with heavy rain and high wind. I just drove the car up on street tires, because I didn't want to deal with loading and unloading the trailer in that kind of weather, plus I was banking on the fact that it was a little to cold for my full tread RA1's to work anyway; at least that was my excuse to be lazy. The cheap $15 PVC rain suit held up well, but after 3 hours my old tennis shoes were soaked and cold along with my hands. That made it a miserable rest of the day. Non rubber, waterproof boots get you 5-6 hours before they are soaked through, so I'm going to buy full rubber boots for days like this. I should have grabbed my ski gloves for my hands.

I couldn't believe that we had 93 people come out to race in those conditions.

Well, I missed my 1st session today helping with registration. I then went out in the 2nd session for a few laps (1st time out with the new cage). Well, my mirrors are out of adjustment, my elbow was bumping the rollcage padding when making left turns, my windshield was dirty, visor was dirty (never leave it down, this was the first time), the clarity through lexan was reduced. Oh, and did I mention that it was about 42F and snowing or raining and/or drizzling at times with 50mph gusts of wind..... I did about 4 laps and then fixed the rollcage padding, cleaned the windshield, and flipped the visor up for the next session. Then I did about 10 laps and things were much better, but it takes so long to get heat in these 315s when it is that cold out. Confidence was reduced with the river running across the track before turn 3 (enough to cause the rear to step out.....not fun when combined with the wind gusts). Ask Borden...he's here in his SS. I don't think I ran more than 75% today...hopefully tomorrow I can get back up to speed with drier, warmer conditions. (IMG:http://www.frrax.com/rrforum/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif)
