Mitch thats a fun track, transition from staging lanes to the drag strip is really wierd though. You have traction then you don't then you have it again. Its a track I swore up and down that I would not go back to again. I was severly dehydrated and not feeling good during my 2 sessions there. If I had a chance to go back I would.

I've DLed a few in-cars and studied the track and line somewhat. But there doesn't appear to be many landmarks.

From what I can gather a 3.42 geared F-Car will use 3rd and 4th primarily, except for 1 turn which looks like a 2nd gear turn. That sound about right?

The transition from staging to launch to drag strip appears to be a little bumpy. True? Everywhere else appears to be relatively smooth and consistent track surface.

Mitch not many mental notes from there.( really) My video fragged out and no vid's either. That is a real late braking section. if you follow the brake marker you will brake way too early. You are hauling the mail in that section. I shifted into 5th. Turn one is a long wide corner that is decreaing radius if my memory servs me right. All other coners were normal so to speak there is one that is was slower than it looks.(You'll try and carry to much speed) I'll find some track vids to review. The hard part of the track for me was the 2nd to last turn that brings you onto the staging lanes. I kinda remember saying im might not stop and that is bad section of track to not make the turn. Yes the transition from staging to drag track is rough. You drive right across the stage light area of the track and there is a bump where the concrete and blacktop meet. Think of it this way Bump, traction, bump(stage light area), traction. If things havent changed since I was there in 04 curbing sucks and not marked very well and no real landmarks.

Mitch I'll try and find some Track vids to see If I can mark the issue turns I had. But it shouldn't take you to long to learn it.

I haven't driven the track, but I know thye were making some improvements down there last year and this year, so things may be better than you remember John.

If I can get a kitchen pass, I'll see if I can come down on Saturday. When will you be there? Colorado in November is a crap shoot on weather, bring what ever you need for everything from a blizzard to high 70's and sunny.

Like John said, drink lot's of water, actually I prefer Gatorade, even if it's cold. You'll also want sunscreen even if it's cloudy.

weather.com says (and has been saying) no precipitation, sunny, mid 60s for highs and mid to low 30s for a low.

As a kid, we used to spend 2 weeks every summer camping in the Rockies. The Conejos in the south and Poudre in the north were our favorites.
I remember it being extremely low humidity. So, advice is well taken.

BTW, you should be able to go through turn 1 at the end of the Drag straight in 3rd.

We should have some good racing, even though 3 of our CMC cars aren't coming.

Mitch you have nothing to worry about. Follow me in practice and we will get you a line. T10 is a bit harry, but if turn in a little late rather than a little early, it will bring you out right in the middle of the staging lanes. T1 is definately a 3rd gear turn. The turn that takes a little while to get down is T7 and T9. 7 you will just have tpo play with. 9 you don't want to go into too hot, you will be farming for sure. Not too many passing zones either. When are you coming up. I am going to be there Friday for some testing

Well I used to consider myself "from Colorado" as I spent many summers there growing up with Grandma and Grandpa in Durango. Grandpa was born in Durango and Grandma was born in Silverton - they were old timers for sure. Grandpa took me all over the San Juans where we hiked, fished and camped to our content. Between private land owners and public lands he took me places where folks just did not know about. The beauty of that area is unsurpassed IMHO! I'll be heading out there next year to visit some friends and check on some property I have there.

How long has the track been in Pueblo?

I had fun at PMP a little over one year ago... renting out a half trackday for $60 was a great deal! Only thing is that at nearly 5000ft altitude the car was somewhat lacking in performance (normally aspirated 1.8L 4 cylinder Honda), it could barely get to 100mph by the braking zone for turn 1. At MSR Houston with less distance and a similar entrance speed to the back straight it can get to about 120mph. Colorado has some beautiful roads, but the altitude is killer in the Breckenridge/Steamboat springs area - the integra actually sounded like it had a Subaru boxer 4 at the high altititudes when starting from a dead stop, which required near full throttle. Early morning snowstorms (6am) are fun too on max performance summer tires at 9,000+ foot altitudes. Beautifull country though, which reminds me I probably should have the Medium format film I shot there developed....

$60 for a test day? Man! That is unheard of out here in California! Sears in particular thinks their track is made out of gold...

My friends in Durango always liked to go to Steamboat to ski even with Purgatory right there!

The nicest road in Colorado I know of is US 550 the "Million Dollar Highway," named that because of the gold ore used to help make it back in the day when a million was a lot of dough for a road!
