I just picked up another '94 camaro a couple weekends ago with the intent of using it as a parts car for the B4C track car, or possibly to rebuild it and sell my B4C. While I was looking at it the week before the guy that owned it mentioned a story that the previous owner had relayed to him. He said that the car was build by John Hennessey of Hennessey Performance (yes the same one better known for their 1000hp vipers) and that it had been featured in an article in Motor Trend magazine back in the day.
Fast forward to this past weekend, I had put the car in the garage and noticed that it had Texas Dept of Public Safety registration stickers in the windshield from 1997. Since Hennessey Performance is based in Texas I got curious.
Monday night I emailed Hennessey Performance and relayed the story asking if they could shed any light on it...the next day I got home from work and had an email from John Hennessey himself asking what color it was.
I replied back last night with the color and VIN and received an email from him today confirming that it was in fact the same car!
I found out the car was featured in the 12/94 Motor Trend and in 7/95 Hot Rod Magazine articles, it was called a Hennessey RS330 Camaro.
I've located and purchased both magazines and asked Hennessey for more information but I guess I won't be parting this car out after all. My guess is that this was probably one of the first cars ever built by Hennessey Performance. I asked John if he wanted to buy it for his collection, we'll see what happens... 8)
