Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm currently developing trap door road racing baffles for both the LS1 F-Body and the LS1/LS2 Pontiac GTO (and LS1 Holden Monaro).

The prices will be a little higher due to higher manufacturing costs (but will still be under $200). I will also be giving a very significant discount ($50-$70) to anyone who has purchased a baffle from me in the past. I'll have prototypes soon and will post up photos.

Here are some photos of the prototype trap-door oil pan baffle for the F-Body pan. The production version will look similar but with larger rear drain-back slots. I will be testing-fitting it on my engine tomorrow. I'll be sacrificing an oil pan by cutting out the bottom of the pan, so that I can be absolutely sure that the trap doors don't come anywhere near to coming in contact with the pickup or dip stick (that would be bad).

Drain-back is greatly improved in this version, meaning oil will make it to the sump faster. The trap doors allow oil to enter the pickup area quickly and easily, then trap it inside. This is a proven concept used in just about every oil pan design for racing. The rivets you see are solid-body aircraft rivets - the same rivets that hold aircrafts together. They allow for better mounting precision, less warping due to heat from welding, and are stronger than welds in components that flex. If they can handle the forces on an aircraft wing ranging in temperatures from -60*F to 110*F, they can handle this application no problem.

An F-Body pan with this baffle will absolutely outperform a C6 pan by a mile. This baffle alone should be sufficient for just about any weekend track car. Most serious race cars can probably get by with a combination of this baffle and a large oil accumulator. I will be sending these out to a couple of guys who race competitively to test them out for me.

The retail price will be $189 (I may also offer a forum discount). The baffles will be available in a little over a week.

And here are some of the preliminary CAD drawings for the GTO oil pan baffle. The final version will have a few minor tweaks, but this is the basic idea. I should have a prototype ready for this one in about a week.

If anyone knows someone who would be willing to track-test this one in exchange for a free baffle, let me know. I do have a GTO pan so I can test fit it on my engine, but I can't track test it.

Just a quick update. The GTO trap door baffle is now available (if you know a GTO owner, spread the word).

The F-Body Trap Door baffle will be available for sale in about 2-3 weeks. It's going into production next week.
