Posted on our local autocross forum, too good not to share. I especially liked the downhill corkscrew.

Great stuff.
There is some vintage Footage of 500hp Sierra Cosworths some where on YT that will make you cringe even worse than this.

Camera car is matched, or slower on acceleration, but outbrakes and out corners everyone else - like it's the only car on race rubber.

I wonder what carnage transpires behind him at 1:20 when he punts the yellow car out of the way.

On that narrow of track with Armco that close to the track one can only imagine
Doug Phillips
About a minute in they look to be 5 cars wide!

that is shocking. That guy knows the track and knows where he can maintain speed.

Yeah, it doesn't look he's afraid to ball it up and take someone else out with him either.

This is why you race cars that you don't actually own. 2thumbs.gif

Funny story. I was speaking to Brian Redman one day at a historc racing event (of some kind, I forget which) and I told him that I saw him out in his (insert one of his old/expensive race cars here...I forget what it was) and he said "Oh no...it's not mine, I don't make it a habit to OWN race cars, far too expensive. I just enjoy driving them when the owners ask me to do so (he then told me that he did own the old blue Capri that he was driving that day, but that was it)".

It's fun for me if I'm driving your car. smile.gif Even better if I'm a hired shoe and don't have to pay for damage. 2thumbs.gif

I'd say that driver spent some time in a late model dirt car on a short track at some point in his/her career. Definitely "drive it like ya stole it"......

I believe that is typical Aussie driving for Bathhurst. It is even more spectacular when the Falcon and Monaro V8's are racing.

Damn, I'm going to have to spread that video some more. That's impressive.

Depends on why you are having someone else drive the car. I know people who are still perfectly capable and young enough to compete that are car owners. Some won't risk it because of family, I know one guy who owns a small business and has someone drive his cars just because he doesn't know how often he would be able to race them himself, and some people just want to see their car in victory lane so they hire some talent instead of wandering around mid pack or wadding stuff up.

When I had my 91 RS I modded it, drove it all the way from NJ to Road America, flogged the crap out of it for the weekend(including 2 sessions in the rain), and then drove it home at least a full yer before it was paid off. lol

That definitely looks fun... it is a whole lot like our inverted CMC races only a little closer with all the barriers surround that track. 2thumbs.gif
