I'm sure it wasn't the brightest move ever but I traded in my almost 3 year old Aura for an '05 Z51 with 13k miles, I'm picking it up tomorrow after work. I still have the 3rd gen and will keep autocrossing and modding it as long as it's still around.
Apparently the former owner was in a Corvette club and only took it out on weekends, he traded it in for a new Camaro!

I took a test drive in a C6 Vette about 2-3 years back. Wow is all I could say. Performance way better than my 2001 Trans Am, and I have been driving my TA for years and know its limits pretty well. The Vette was a whole 'nother dimension. They are sweet.
But, I totally did not like the electric assist steering or whatever. It doesn't re-center itself like "normal" steering. That is one thing I would change on them.

Would you take a '94 S10 with a 406 and a 9" as trade for the vette?

They'll know. The back wheels go in different directions!!
Nice ride. I have thought about something like that for the 40-mile daily commute. The SS is nice, but it doesn't get nearly 30 MPG.

I bought a used 07 Z51 a few years ago as a daily driver......I LOVE IT!

I did this today....

I saw a bunch of large rocks (2" - 3") in the road today and successfully dodged them but obviously didn't miss one! I heard the front tire hit it, but nothing else so I didn't think much of it. There is clearly a hole in the rocker that extends outward JUST enough to be visible when walking up to it! The rocks were there because the grass cutting crew knocked a bunch of them out into the road, it looked like they drove the mower over the rocks with the blades running!!!!!!
This is going to be a daily occurrence with this car. The first night I got it I was stuck in a hail storm... I've never driven in hail before!!! Then there was a bunch of sand/marbles on the highway that pelted the front end and windshield.
We'll see what the rest of the week brings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGH! I hate that for ya.
Give ya $10k for it, as it sits... (Hey, I'm a generous guy!)

I kept my fingers crossed that the rocker is a bolt on part... no such luck!

You know what they say "if it wasn't for bad luck you would have none at all". Sorry you had to go through all that at once. The first ding is the hardest. It really is a nice looking car and I hope you can get it fixed cheaply

bummer.....scratched up bottom rockers are common on these cars...mostly from poor jacking at dealers and auto shops....if it is not visible, I would leave it...but it looks like there is that one spot.....sigh...

Right, but it isn't just a scratch. I geuss you can't tell in the pics, but it is a hole!!!

'glass it over, scratch it up, slap some black paint on it and wait for the next one. It hurts when you give a sh*t about your car, but the alternative is parking it in the garage under a cover.

This is why I'll never have another nice daily driver. I'd also glass it over and throw some touch-up paint over it and I doubt you'll be able to tell it's there. It's only a matter of time until you scratch it up again.

If it helps, I'll give a third vote for this fix. I suspect this is going to happen again at some point.

I'm definitely going to patch it somehow. My body shop instructor was a fan of the 3M 2 part epoxy that they use to assemble cars now. I saw him goop a bunch of that stuff on a bumper cover and form it into a tab that was torn off. I'll have to check if it works on fiberglass but if it does I'll use that instead... at least it is black to begin with!

... he traded it in for a new Camaro!
...and he's a bone head for doing that. Anyone that would trade a C5 or C6 on a new 5th gen needs their head examined. Thats like dumping Megan Fox to get with Rosie O'Donnell....
