I would love to run the lightest style of OE wheels (if anyone has input on weights), and I would prefer to run this same wheel/tire for street and track (since I'm 200+ treadwear anyway)...I am planning on using the new Nitto NT05. Like I said, I am not opposed to running a larger tire upfront for competition and staggard on the street FWIW.

The NT05's come in the following sizes that I would consider: 275/40 17, 315/35 17, 275/40 18, 295/35 18

17 inch wheels limit your choices in brakes. C6 Vette brakes work well and fit under 17 inchers. For max grip you need a set of 17 x11 on all for corners with 315/35 tires. I run 17 x9' s with the 275 nt-05.

The next option is a 18 x10.5 z06 wheel on all 4 corners, opens up your brake options, tires hurt the wallet a lot worse than 17's.

Can you do the 18x10.5 on all corners without spacers or fitment issues? Are the C5Zo6 wheels the best style choice (d/t weight) or do all these OEM style reproduction wheels weigh the same approximately? Would you still run this fitment on the road course?

Yes, if you buy 4 rears they will fit all 4 corners, with factory brakes no spacers needed. factory wheels are lighter then repros in almost all cases. no they do not all weigh the same. OE wheels c5y2k deep dish 18x10.5s weigh a TON. i'm running those as my daily wheels, for track i have a set of Forgestars i robbed from my Corvette, 18x10 and 18x11 (19 and 19.5#s).

if they don't have to be OEM style, you can get forgestar F14s for cheap, shipping could take a while though..

just an additional data point, I had to upgrade to 18" wheels to clear my new 14" two piece rotor upgrade to my 996tt set-up. The AFS polished y2k's (18"x9.5") weighed ~ 22 lbs on a decent bath room scale which I think is pretty reasonable for the modest cost. My 17"x9.5" Z06 (OE Concepts?) were actually heavier ~24 lbs.

Well, I am really wanting to do a 1 set for both daily and race, but I guess I can retain my current set 18x8/18x9 and DD those and just buy a race only set. I don't prefer OE repos, just trying to find something that would fit my budget and that was a logical choice, I certainly can't spring for foreline or HRE right now, so if forgestar or another company makes an affordable lightweight decent looking wheel for race I'm all in. The forgestars your running...they fit with no modification you say?

I have 4 OEM C6 Z06 front wheels 18x9.5 that fit my '94 with 275/35/18 A6s on them. I like the look and they will clear bigger brakes, and most aftermarket calipers. They also require no body mods to fit and weight around 21 lbs.

I use 18inch Jaguar wheels on my 3rd gen as they are plentiful and cheap overhere. I did need spacers though and used long studs and long wheel nuts that fit through the body of the spacer and have had no issues.
