Hey all,

Here's a few clips from VIR with Trackdaze on Jun 4-5. About 25 minutes total taken with a GoPro. I was the lone F-Bod, although there were a couple of Gen Vs in the green group that I never saw on track.

Jun 4, Session 2 - Cockpit
Jun 4, Session 4 - Cockpit
Jun 5, Session 2 - Nose
Jun 5, Session 3 - Roof

These are my first vids and are great for some self-analysis. Definitely see ways to shave some time in the Left Hook_pre-Snake, entry to the Roller Coaster (post back straight), and the Hogpen (pair of turns on entry to the front straight).

Should have a roll bar, seat and harness the next time out and then start some left-foot braking in earnest. It's a little challenging with your knees splayed east and west blink.gif.

Great videos! I like the in car camera mounting position a lot. Here's on thing I learned last time I was at VIR. Your line through turn one is a momentum line. It doesn't work for horsepower cars. I was taught that line also and I never liked turns 1,2 and 3. I would just kind of tip toe through them. Check out this video I took last month from my instructor's 99 SS. The GoPro was mounted a little low, but you can still see what he's doing.

The horsepower line is go really deep into turn one, then stay about half track through the first half of the turn. Do not apex early. Then start squeezing in the power and hit the apex very late and exit turn on on the right side of the track. This puts you in a perfect position to stay WOT through turn 2, and sets you up again for 3. The problem with the line you were doing is you are in the turn much longer, preventing you from getting on the power.

I never got to actually try it myself. My opti took a power steering fluid bath and crapped out, so my weekend was done early. But I can't wait to try it again.

Are you going to be there with the BMW guys end of August? I'm signed up already. And I gotta ask, how tall are you? smile.gif

Thanks! The t-top glass and upside-down option on the GoPro work well to get some driver action.

Yeah, turn 1 is deceptively slow. Here's a another short clip where I thought about cutting some grass in 1. That's a Lancer Evo I let by - same one I chased down in one of the other vids - ha cool2.gif. I like them - they're fast. You can see him spit a little fire out the back after turn 10.

The rear tires are 4 yrs old, but I always feel the turn should be faster. I see what he's doing, staying tighter inside, so he straigtens things out earlier. Slower in, faster out. Seems I've heard that somewhere before rolleyes.gif. I'll work on this line the next time out.

I won't make it with the BMW group, but will keep my eyes with them as another run group. I've got about 3 big balls up in the air right now, and really want the bar and seat in the next time out. Hopefully Chin in Oct or Trackdaze in Nov.

I'm 6' even, and remember reading about your trials and tribulations with your seat install. I've got Alan Blaine fabbing some brackets for the stock posts to accept a Kirkey Intermediate Road Race seat, and plan to simply swap the stock seat out for events.

That Evo is quick! I think the fire makes it look even faster. I loved the save in turn 1. It's funny that everyone teaches one line through turn one, but there are several. Having my instructor show me the HP line really opened my eyes. Kind of like a light bulb going off.

Your plan to swap the seats sounds pretty good. I actually like my fixed back seats for the street, of course in a couple of weeks when I drive 6 hours round trip in one day, I'm sure I'll be thinking differently.

Honestly, the BMW group is awesome. But the main reason I'm doing their events is because they still allow M2000 helmets.

I'm sure we'll meet up at VIR soon. That'd be a lot of fun.

Steve I just did a trip to the Bristol area with my car that has fixed back seats. It wasn't bad just make sure you have good padding. Bristol is a 7-8 hour trip for me

Yep. I look forward to catching up with you down there one of these times.
