Mostly piddly stuff to finish the prep work on the LS1, for the v6 to v8 swap. Need to get these items picked up in the next few days:
* Front tranny seal before I put the converter, tranny, and engine back together.
* Hi-side ps hose, since the one on the swap engine is crimped in one of the bends.
* Tranny filter and fluid to refill it after putting the shift kit in. Rear seal too.
* Maybe starter and/or alternator. Every other rotating piece on the outside was shot.... Pulleys, water pump, etc. So the alternator and starter are suspect too.
Stuff I ordered/picked up just this week:
* one motor mount (the right one was bent)
* pressure bleeder for brakes
* reservoir cap pre-tapped for fitting for pressure bleeder
* adapter for 5 wire maf to 3 wire maf + 2 wire iat
* alignment turnplates
* air block off plates for the MAC headers.
That reminds me, I have a 255lph fuel pump to put in too. Gotta replace that v6 pump....
Anybody have any leads on a nice cover plate I could put back over the hole I'm going to cut out over the fuel pump? I could make one, but if I could get something universal, I'd look into that. Especially if it had a sealing door....
Later this year, a 6pt bolt-in roll bar. Possibly a lightweight battery.

Pacesetter LTs and Y w/ 3.5" spintech exhaust to a single outlet crossflow spintech muffler. I think should meet sound requirements. And the deluxe Road race seat at I.O. Port and a 6pt. camlock harness.

But my son is due in a just a few weeks. So I'll build his list soon. I can't wait.
Currently it makes racing not that important.
(but I should be back in the saddle by the end of August or early september

Yeah, I'm not a fan of that "mod".... I bit the bullet and dropped my rear, so he should have to also.

But seriously... cut the hole... it's not a structural part of a unibody car anyway....

I might still get a 99+ plastic tank to replace the 98 metal tank... If I do that, it would make sense to try to do it at the same time as the fuel pump. But I'm kinda getting tired of adding more and more sub-projects onto this engine swap!
It is supposed to be good for 18lbs though. And it looks like weight reduction is the next thing I'll be experimenting with on this car.

Well I've got to order some Pacesetter ceramic coated LT's, car trailer blueprints, Lincoln Pro-mig 175, and a few misc things. I have poly bushings for the front control arms and LS1 brakes waiting to go on. I'm also going to learn to weld-gotta learn to weld if you're serious about our hobby. My father wants to build a car trailer ourselves.

Fortunately we have access to a machine shop and competent welders for help.

Before the end of the year:
1. Front brake pads (stockers are almost gone with 22k and a lot of autocrossing, still have a lot on the back) looking at HPS's.
Beginning of next season:
2. Two sets of tires, one set of 275/40/17 Toyo RA1's for practice/school/rain tires and a set of A3S04's or 710's for the big events.
3. Torque arm (car is starting to get old enough to hop bad)

Maybe a ZZ4 crate later this year - I saw some video of my car on the track at a lap day and it's smoking all over the place - the crapped out LG4 has to go. Last autocross I did the car damn near asphyxiated the time keepers. Got fifth though which wasn't too bad for my second event I guess and the cars ahead of me were all high HP 4th gens some with race rubber. I don't like the cones though - to tight - DNF'd the first four runs and then nailed it on the last two with identical lap times..lol - best vehicle for autox is a 100cc kart

I'm an avid shooter/reloader and used to own a Remington 40xb-ks, match rifle with a stainless bull barrel in .300 win mag with a factory 2 oz trigger (yup, 2 oz, that scope has hit me in the head more than a few times when reaching for it, BOOM!). And several other toys (steyer tactical .308 with a beavy barrel, etc). I've had .38's, .40's, a Walther PPK/S, a Colt 70 series Gold Cup, the list goes on.....(more than anyone cares to read).

saw 3 of them at Mid-O this weekend. Looks like a Mazda again except several different models instead of just the RX7 like last time. Pass on that ass again. It is all chissed-up. I like the curves

I was there Sunday. Where are you located? (I didn't think many people were too close to me). I wish I had known, I'd have tried to catch up and say hello. It's always good to match names and faces.

In case some of you can't guess my next purchase is a new engine, Canton oil pan, SLP flywheel, clutch (don't know which one yet). I'll likely take the transmission out at the same time and go through it over the winter since that's about the last thing on the car I haven't rebuilt.
Next I'll need a higher paying job.

Porsche has a nice triple disc clutch that's made from silicone carbide, is 8" in diameter and weighs less than 4kg. Will hold ~600lb-ft as well. They use it in their Carrera GT! Probably costs as much as I paid for my car tho.

My next purchase(s) will cost as much or more than when I bought my car... a 3/4 ton tow vehicle and 18'-20' dovetail open trailer. Not sure when it will be, but the sooner the better! I drove a 460 F250 last night... I really like them. Maybe a 3/4 ton suburban to sleep in at the track

Maybe a set of HP+, mine are a bit thin.
I also should do both front hubs and suspension bushings.

Yeah I like Taurus because they make nice S&W knock offs for way less coin! They even bought the old S&W factory so they are using the same tooling built by S&W. I'm waiting for a knock-off of the new S&W 500; it's a 50 cal handgun even more powerfull than the 454. There's already been a bunch of dangerous big game kills with this gun, including elephants!

I looked at the .500. It is a nice piece. There are 2 things I don't care for about it (not that it is bad). It weighs about 8 lbs (oof, my .454 was about 5 lbs maybe slightly less). If I were carrying it very far, I'd consider the lighter one (unless it was a really big, ugly, "biting" critter that I was looking for).
The other thing I like about the .454 is the ability to use 45 long colt (actually "45 colt") rounds. They start about the same as a .45 acp and can be loaded to just short of a .44 mag, then you can use "light" casull rounds and go clear up to "heavy" loads. This gives you a range of about 300 ft lbs of muzzle energy to nearly 2000 ft lbs. Other than being a very large firearm, it is just about as flexible as any handgun you could own.
But, the .500 has a place in big game hunting and Smith & Wesson build outstanding weapons. The quality is amazing.
I've not fired a .500 yet, but I will soon. I've already played with the Desert Eagle 50 AE (3 times the recoil of the .454 at 2/3 the energy....big, noisy fun, but I'd not buy one) and will make my rounds of the "other" big bore handguns soon.
