This is going to be my next camaro/ race car if i can ever make the jump. Modifieds like these ran at limerock in 2010/2011 the pole time for the race was 53.009 by comparison a corvette c6-R runs a lap at 50.178 and a spec miata 1.02 so I think one these cars squared up could be real quick and pretty cheap to build and maintain compared to some other road race stuff. Look at the pick below the bumper even says camaro.

hell yes, 2300lbs 650hp= big ass happy face when driving. now the trick is getting one registerd and insured in nj. I think I can do it as a kit car.

Sounds like a cool idea, a little large for a ?/Modified autocross car, but would be killer on a more open course (as well as; road courses, hillclimbs, Solo 1/TTs/Time Attacks, etc.).

Speaking of roundy 'round type things/people, do you know Jon Denning from town (his dad owns Dodd's Auto Body), and he had a garnet 4th gen LS1 SS for a while.
He used to compete in WKA shifter carts, and then in NASCAR late model Whelen Series cars, but don't know if he still does or not.

I have been wanting to build a NASA class for those. Make it a step'ed class where the lowest one uses OEM motor/trans combo's like CMC and goes up from there. Keep wheels/tires small too to keep it "interesting". Something like a 16x8 or 10 or a 17x9 or 11.

Small rotors (12") and 4 pot calipers ($600 each).
$1000 per axle shock limit.

Pro Mod 1-4. 4 is unlimited. 3 is cap'ed (500-600 hp). 2 is power to weight, 1 is cap'ed 300hp.

Biggest issue I see is cage material. I don't think dirt racing requires DOM. Could be an issue.....

guy I worked with for 20 years races nascar asphalt mods, his chassis is dom. His car is 2600 with driver and 300lbs of lead. I have thought for years a car like this could be a great road race car body is made from 030 alum no expensive fiberglass or carbonfiber, cheaper circle track parts and they make all the right noises. If I do this im going to use my ls6engine and t-56 to try and keep it cheapish

I just look at a 2007 dirt modified on Racingjunk.com and it was complete less motor for $3K. I have saida few times that the next car I build for myself will be one of these.

So are the chassis normally build semetrical? Or do they have them built so they can only be set-up for circles?

Glenn I have said the same thing to many people. With my build coming to it's completion slowly but surely; I catch myself looking on racingjunk and finding rollers for the price I paid for my cage alone...... God forbid, if I ever stuff this car and the drive train is still usable I'm going with a late model roller. North Carolina isn't that far from me and it's the mecca for that kind of stuff.

You don't want an offset chassis. You'll want a short track setup, usually labeled as a 110" wheelbase car. The ones that are labeled as road course cars just have the proper suspensions bits installed on the short wheelbase chassis for road course stuff. That's what I've figured from doing the small amount of research I've done.

The chassis are built off set, if I do this im going to have the chassis built symetrical just for ease of setup. Iknow here in nj at njmp they have a race with the big block dirtmods a 50 lap road course race, crazy thing is when they race there they have to race using the same rules package they use for dirt. tires and everything.

I've day dreamed and went as far as sketching and starting to CAD model my version of a freak car like this, but it would have to look better than that. I'm thinking something like a 29ish or 32ish Ford Coupe syle, body parts made from hand banged aluminum sheet, no fenders. Fit and finish would be rat rod roughness but follow an engineered theme throughout (1000's of rivets showing etc). No paint, just bare aluminum finish and use scotch brite and WD40 to keep it looking 'nice'. The bare steel cage/chassis would have a coat of clear on it. LS engine, C5 rear axle and either a C5 T56 or a Jerico trans, and some other trick stuff.
