FASTFATBOY
I am doing the Power Tour long haul this year.

I am signed up for the qualifier in Arlington Tx.

I have a new set of street tires on the car(300 tread wear) I can get by with those, the brake pads are what I am worried about.

I bought the best ceramic pads Oreilly had so they wouldn't dust my wheels up, I did the autocross in Muskegon and they did ok. I don't have ny brake ducts either.

I had my Carbotech XP 12/10 fronts and the 8's for the rear sent to my hotel.....do I need to put them on?

The Optima deal is

Autocross

Stop Box

Eagle Canyon road course(1 lap at a time)

Will I be ok with the ceramic pads???????????

Or switch to the Carbotech's?

Need some input quick.
BumpaD_Z28
I'd say switch ... Orielly ceramics are prob not much of a performance pad ...

And you may pick up some stop box points with better brakes !

Good luck smile.gif

Eagle's Canyon is a bitch on brakes. 3 long runs into very tight, sharp turns.

We've had some nice rain here over the last couple days.
Don't go off-track or it will be ugly ... VERY ugly.

Cinch it up, big boy ... ECR ain't BMP.

What about hawk's pads? or EBC?

Good luck and if you have time post up some pictures!

Good luck! Looks like a fun event.

I would love to see how my car would fair in an event like that. I would not even consider any thing less than the Carbotechs.

What tire are you planing to use? I think I would have chosen something like a 315 NT05, it has the 200 tread wear and minimum tread depth at 7/32 out of the box.

How did you get selected for it or can anyone enter the qualifiers?

Most of the events are first come first served. They usually have a car limit and once its met they don't allow any more entries. You have to win the event to qualify for OUSCI. The other option is going thru SEMA, I believe if you are a big time builder and have a car you want to run, they invite some of these nicer high dollar rides over to run as well. I've been to 2-3 events so far, and its always a good time.

Is there a treadwear limit on the donuts you can use for this event?

I took a quick look at the rules and it showed 200 tread wear. I would pick Hoosier is there was no limit. :-)

Possible for you to bring a jack, 2 stands and a 1/2 in drive ratchet?

They wore my ass out today, FUCK! I made at least 35 autcross passes today...I am worn out.

Run the car with the rear end off the ground and in 3rd or 4th and bleed the abs unit. Then shut the engine off and bleed all 4 corners again. Thats the only way I was able to get all the air out.

The pads had to seat to the rotors, its fine now.

That puts one onto; NT-05s, 615Ks and the like for the stickiest 200 treadwears which will fit, and be widest, under our cars.
Hoosier-Daddies sound great (IF they were allowed), except they will not last too long out on the open roads (from flats due to picking up EVERY SINGLE piece of shrapnel they roll over, as much as from just plain wearing out) if they require a 'cruise-type' drive to prove these are REALLY "street cars". wink.gif
FASTFATBOY
I ran the event with the Carbotechs, Maxxis MA-V1 300 treadwear street tires. I did ok I guess with lap times in the low 2:20 area. That track is hard to drive as most corners and brake zones are blind.

Was hard to de-tune my brain to run on the street tires after being on the NT-05's

Overall it was a great experience.

Great stuff, you really have me thinking I should try the Lingenfelter event.

Was Lou Gigliotti the driver of the ZR1?

I thought I read no professional drivers allowed. I would have thought his racing career would have been considered professional.

Nice job Dave! Congrats! I'm sure there were some heavily built and well driven cars there at the top.

And he, by the way, spanked me in autox in Muskegon. I'm pretty sure this guy is a hot shoe... or maybe I just really suck...or both. blink.gif

And it was nice meeting you!
