Trying to get the 4th gen setup with an oil cooler. Probably going to go with the Mocal that IR sales. Also would like to get the fittings and adapter and hose through them as well. For those of you that have put together similar setups (without remote filter), what parts did it require to set this up. I'd like to just call in and order the parts and be done with it. I don't have the car right now, so I can't do measurements and mock ups. Thinking of putting the cooler in the nose behind the grill to catch air. We can fab a mount. Any suggestions on size of cooler, fittings etc. I was considering their low profile LS1 adapter, and the aeroquip startlite hose.

I'm curious as well. I'm thinking of putting the oil cooler behind the right front headlights (where they used to be) and ducting it to the cooler. That would allow the cooler to get cool, fresh air as opposed to hot air from the radiator. Of course I'd have to relocate the battery.

Anyway, anxious to see what you come up with.

I got your PM and have been too busy to sit down and work out a reply (my apologies).

Start on each end. Find out what fittings are on the oil cooler (likely 3/8 NPT, but could be 1/2" NPT or #10AN, etc) and if you'll need straight or 90 degree hose ends. I like using a few bends as possible. Meaning, I'd rather use a 45 degree hose end and a "little hose flex" to get somewhere instead of using a 90 degree end and flexing the hose back the opposite way. You'll see less pressure loss through a 45 degree fitting than you will through a 90 degree fitting. And I'd always select a 90 degree hose end over a 90 degree adapter end (for example 3/8 npt on one end, a 90 degree bend and #10AN on the other). Those fittings tend to be "drilled" in a straight line and make a true 90 degree intersection inside. The hose ends are radiused and will have less pressure loss than a 90 degree AN to NPT adapter.

Anyway, as I said, find out what ends are on the cooler and the oil adapter for the block. Once we know that, we can figure out (or try to) if you need straight, 45 degree or 90 degree hose ends and what adapters. Once we have that, it's down to how much hose you need and we can get a rough idea (buy a little extra, just in case) and go from there.

I've never set up an LSx cooler so some of the others may be more help with the exact fitting choices. I can help you with general hose questions and plumbing stuff.

This Cooler Mocal 235 Cooler, this adapter Low Profile Adapter, this is my selection of Hose ends and adapters, this hose Aeroquip Startlite hose.

Here are my questions at this point.
Location? Thinking nose behind grill. Will this location support a cooler? In this location should I figure a puller fan to mount behind the cooler? If this location will work, then which fittings should I use? How much hose should I get (I don't mind to buy a little extra to be safe) if this hose I have linked is a good/acceptable hose...

I have used the "push lock" style hose before and it works ok. But for a similar price, I'd run "real" braided 10AN (and even better, I have a bunch of it for sale if you're interested...if not, I'm not offended). I just like having a real hose end that truly captures the end of the hose to the fitting. There's virtually no chance of blowing a braided 10AN stainless line off of a fitting if it was installed properly. That's why I like it (and it's really durable).
