Can you guys recommend a source for new interior carpet, 1996 Camaro.

I have another post in classified looking for a used set, but I may need to source it new. Im sure the dealer/original part is either not available, or unbelievably priced.

thanks in advance

Found these guys online, anyone ever dealt with them? Nearly half the price of the others.

I guess it depends on what your goal is - daily driver quality or show car. There are also different packages - this one doesn't include the cargo area, where others might.

I had Stock Interiors send me some free samples, and the carpet wasn't anything like my OEM '98 carpet; the samples I received had longer, softer fibers. Ironically none of the samples I picked matched the OEM carpet color well... none were dark enough. I'm regretting my decision to attempt to save a few pounds by removing the factory backing from my OEM carpet, although I still have the backing. It sure seems as if that backing helped reject heat.

My OEM carpet is actually in good condition with the exception of being worn through to the frame below the pedals. I wish there was an easier method to repair the existing damage. I was looking at Lloyds floormats also.

I have one from them. No complaints here.

I have an expectation that the carpet from "stockinteriors" is probably lower quality than OEM. If nothing else just based on price.

I requested samples. We shall see.

Thanks Guys

I have the Stock Interiors carpet. It's "OK" but definitely not OEM quality. Since it's my autocross car that rarely sees street duty, it's good enough. The original carpet had gotten, um, mildewey where there where holes in the floorpan from when the car used to have a rollbar.

Not stock/ST/SP class legal of course...

Well I got the samples yesterday.

They are certainly not OEM quality, but for the price I think I will give it a shot. This is not a daily driver so wear is only a limited concern. Probably throw some kind of cheap matt on the driver side.

The OEM has heavy backing pad in strategic places which I sort of doubt comes on the replacement carpet. Anybody have suggestions, especially near the trans tunnel where the exhaust runs?

thanks

I thought their mass backing option was designed to replace the OEM backing? Which color number did you pick?

I would guess this is what my carpet is and it does have a backing pad around the trans tunnel. I don't know if this came on the carpet or not.

I am pretty much zeroed in on 8335 (Antelope).

The stock carpet has big areas of thick woven pad material affixed the underside of the carpet (not the entire backer, just selected areas, mainly horizontal area). I'm thinking these are heat/sound deadening or some such purpose. I was not planning on buying the mass backer, but may need to rethink that.

I was thinking of putting down some of that silver sound deadening stuff (cant remember the name of it) in the area of the exhaust run, but leaving the rest bare metal. This car is no longer raced, and is street driven about 1000 miles a year.
