I actually put a timer in the car(phone app) this past weekend at Barber. My best lap was a 1:50.3 in traffic I had to let 2 cars go by.

The intermediate group that weekend with REZOOM was the fastest I have ever been in.

I am 3800 lbs with me in the car, on 275-40-17 NT-05 street tires. I finally think I am tire limited, my goal was to run a 1:49 on street tires and I know now I can do it on a clean lap.

What tires do you guys think I should go to? NT-01, R888, R6?

I don't think I can move to a 315 square setup, I saw a pic of the car in between turn 12-13 and the left front is shoved all the way up in the fender, only and inch of the tire is visible the lip of the rim is almost even with the top fender.

This was the first weekend with some real front camber in the car (1.9 degrees) and the Raybestos ST47/ST43 pad combo. Pads have the highest bite I have had yet, incredible stopping power. The ST43 is too much pad for the rear though.

Any help is appreciated.

What kind of camera are you using and was it zoomed in? If it is, that kills the sense of speed. Plus if you zoom it out, we could see more of you, which is also helpful.

I have NT01's and I really liked them. Big step up from street tires. Have you been on track tires yet?

The Camera is an old FLIP Video camera, I have it that far forward so I can reach it to turn it on while strapped in the seat. It doesn't have a zoom on it.

I bought a DRIFT HD 720 camera back in Feb, pulled it out to use and the battery was bad and could not get one in time for the event.

Best tires I have been on is the NT-05 which is a 200 tread wear street tire.

Gotcha. If you have a smart phone, look into Harry's Lap timer. I'm planning on using that with my iPhone 5. I believe you can use the DRIFT camera along with Harry's. I know you can with GoPro's.

Anyway, you'll be amazed at how much more grip track tires have. I was absolutely blown away. If you think you have brake problems now, wait until you get track tires. You'll be able to brake later, corner harder, and get on the throttle much earlier. You're going to love it. You have a 2nd set of wheels, right?

I use Trackmaster App for Android, Can't figure out how to export the data to overlay onto the video.

Does that app use the phone to take video with an overlay? Just curious to see how it is. Haven't purchased Harry's yet.

The app has that ability yes, it also has the ability to export info to overlay onto video.

I did get some wheel hop, still by FAR the best pad setup I have had so far. Once I found where the wheel hop threshold was I never got it again.

I still have a lot of pad left after the event.

I've used both Toyo R1s and Nitto NT01s. They also doubled as my street tires. I liked them a lot. Before I started trailering my car, I used to drive 2.5 hours on my R1's to Barber and Little Tally, run my sessions, then drive home. If you're going to use them as a dedicated track tire, not on the street and not in the wet, I'd recommend shaving them before use. I always ran mine from full tread depth down to the cords, but in doing this found both tires easy to overheat and get a little "greasy" the first weekend of use. A non shaved R1 was a much better tire in the wet. The NT01 was a little better in the dry, but I found it very difficult to drive in the wet.

After talking to Kevin I will put bigger bars on the car first(35/22) and see where that goes.

I have always trailered the car to the track.

I can probably hand you down some 275/40/17 RA1's. I usually run them down pretty far, but there's still some life on them, and I know they are better than street tires...

I bought me some 35/21 bars, hopefully better than my 32/19 bars.

Bigger front bar for sure...put the biggest dang bar in the front you can! I run a factory V6 rear bar, or no rear bar at all at some tracks.

From what I can tell in your video, you need some more spring/compression damping in the car too. What spring rates do you run again?

550/150 Strano springs. Koni Da front, Sa rear.

Should I run the 35 front with the 19 rear?

WOW that's soft... I'm running 1200/300. with a shortened (stiffer) hollow strano front bar and rear spring rubbers. I'm thinking of changing to a 350 rear spring soon.

Try the 35/21 combo. Keep the 19 in the trailer incase it's just too loose.

FWIW, I've driven a full weight street car with 1000/275 springs and it was surprisingly smooth on the road.

The roads in south Alabama are bad, I want nothing to do with a spring setup like that lol. I street drive this car way more than I track it. I don't want any loose teeth.

It rides ok now, but if I take it on a trip I wan to be somewhat comfy.
