I'm curious, what would you guys do with it?

My shell is no longer viable so I've been hunting for a good one to begin a CP build with. It would be nice to have one with no extras installed so I don't have to bother stripping it and this is probably the only truly rust free car you will find. Starting with perfect paint is a bonus as well.

On the other hand, part of me really wants to see it preserved as it is.

Build a frame that bolts to the suspension points and hang it on the wall of the shop!!



Or better, convert our 95 Z28 convertible to a 2000 hardtop!

It'll probably cost almost the asking price to ship just about anywhere.

AI car......

Too much money for an AI chassis for the amount of cutting you'll have to do on it anyway.

Ya, there's the money, but I'm having trouble seeing much value in that as a donor car even if it was 1/2 that cost. The only advantage I see for a AI/AIX/ST build would be the lack of body seam sealer (I can't tell from the pics but AFAIK the BW chassis have no seam sealer). The black paint is horrible, the exterior will get trashed during the build but the interior would be much better to build in just primer. There are lots of clean rust free nearly free chassis out here, the BIW would save maybe 5-10hrs prep vs a boneyard donor. And all the suspension bits and a Kmember have to be sourced before it can even be rolled around without a dolly. This thing would nickel dime a build budget.

As I understood it, most race teams bought a street car and a BIW. They started on the cage for the BIW and sourced all the other stuff off of the street car. Once you moved everything you needed over to the BIW, you sell off/scrap the remains of the street chassis. By the time you buy all the door handles and little nuts and bolts, you may as well just buy the donor car (or so it seems).

Nah, they just found something similar in the parking lot and left the shell sitting on 4X4blocks of wood. You gotta stay under budget you know!!
