Anyone in the New England, Mid Atlantic area going this weekend? I'm thinking about it....

Anyone ever run with this group or at the site? What can I expect?

Thanks!
KeithO
I haven't run with CART, but my father-in-law has been involved with them for years. My impression is that it would be smaller and more relaxed than an NER event (I ran NER July 3rd in a Miata)...

...and I worked July 3rd, would have been nice to meet you!

Looks like FS usually bumps to BS (at least the results I've looked at so far), but they seem to get a good turn out in ESP.

Thanks, Keith...

I ran my brother-in-law's C-Stock Miata. What a different car!

When you go to the CART event, ask around for Sid Colangelo - he's my father-in-law and he's a pretty cool guy. He'll be in an older red MR2. He mostly corner works for time trials at Lime Rock, but he's just gotten the itch to drive again. He's been in and out of the hospital and I think the down-time had given him time to think that cars are fun and he needs to get out more...

Yeah, I was disappointed in the f-body/mustang turn out at NER. There was a GS Mustang, an FS Mustang, a CP Mustang and a SM Camaro SS. Locally, we get around 6-7 drivers in FS consistently. Was that normal?

Pretty normal turn out. FS usually has the Mustang, a 300zx, and myself. The SM Camaro was bills. We've lost a few F Bodies over the last few years. Every once in a while JeffG comes out, in a pretty Red Camaro (sweet car, Jeff!), the odd ESP camaro or two...kinda like a family reunion when we see them again!

Not many pony cars up here autocrossing. Most go for 1/4 mile. I'll bet you saw more Subaru's than on a dealers lot, though tongue.gif

I notice only one other F Body registered for NE Divs....and three mustangs, including the FS Mustang you saw at Devens.
KeithO
It's a real shame. The pony cars are cars that you still have to DRIVE - not just point.

yeah, in FS, but 2 firebirds in ESP and my SS in AS. (But I am really hoping to co-drive a FS car....in fact if I don't get to co-drive someone's car I'm probably not going.... my tv's blew (both) and instead of buying a replacement 27" for $200 I bought a DLP projector for $1300. Kinda hard to justify gas+hotel+entry without having a competitive car.)

SNY has a decent amount of f-bodies & mustangs, but there are few pony car autoxing. When I went to Evolution in Pittsburgh this year Sammy & I were the *only* ones there with *american* cars, now that's pretty sad.

I ended up going to the event. What a blast! More laid back than I'm used to, and it was great only having to work one half an hour shift! (I'm co-grid chief, I work all day long normally).

Bumpy lot, sandy, not a tremendous amount of grip, but was it a fast course! Z06's were on the rev limiter for much more than a bump or two.

I left the Hoosiers at home (I wanted to save them for NE Div's), so I kept the new-to-me street tires on - Dunlop SP8000's on the ubiqutous AFS 17x11's. Major rubbing in back, hard to really get power down, transistion, heck, hard to do anything! But, man were those big tires fun!

Got my butt kicked by Bruce Bellom, so it's good to see how I stack up wink.gif

Definitely a good time. If I ever get an opportunity, I'll try to go back.

Glad you enjoyed it. If I still lived out that way, I would be an active CART member.
