I realize this could be a simple question but I am on a roll of screwin' things up W/ this car.

Can I place 2 jack stands under the engine crossmember? Is there any reason to not do this?

Only reason I can think of is stability on the stands....they will have to be in close together and towards the center of the car....kinda think it would be spooky stability wise....

I've done it numerous times. Seemed pretty stable to me? unsure.gif

Just try to get the jackstands as far apart as possible.

I've done it numerous times also.... and I'm still here to write about it biggrin.gif

Just don't place a jack stand under the pumpkin. That would be very spooky!

Also, I always leave the floor jack extended under the lift point just for added safety.

you could also put two jacks on the frame as close to the front as possible for better stability correct? and since they are only about 8 dollars or so for two 2 ton rated ones, it probably couldnt hurt.

well.. the k-member takes the load of the car everyday when you're driving.. so i don't see why not..

i jack my car up by the k-member... i think it's pretty dangerous though biggrin.gif

After you have it up on the stands grab a hammer and give 'em each a little tap to make sure they are level and solid on the floor.
