I am trying to see if it is worth fixing the LS1 on my car, or selling it as essentially a 'roller' with an engine in it, due to needing lifters and cam, and getting an econobox (Fiesta ST).

It is a 2000 M6 hard top, ordered with NO options (has crank windows, no power anything, and not even a rear window defroster!), the A/C is out of the car to the dash stuff.

The (black) paint is decent for a car with these miles, and it has;

Pro 5.0 shifter

Koni DA fronts with GC/Eibach coil over conversion (650#)

Koni SA rear with Strano Vogtlands (150#)

Strano 35mm hollow front bar with UMI alloy mounts, 1LE 21mm rear bar with ES mounts

ES endlinks all around

Random Tech adjustable torque arm (but stock, trans mounting point)

Turn One pump w/alloy pulley

Ram aluminum flywheel, LS7 clutch with Tick Performance clutch speed bleeder

3.73s with Eaton carbon clutch pack Posi

LT1 radiator

Odyssey/Die Hard group 78 AGM battery

Sparco model 383 suede steering wheel installed on a Momo 2401 hub

2 sets of wheels, both 16x8, with almost new street tires mounted (BFG Comp 2s/Super Sport all seasons)

A running car is always easier to sell and worth more than a roller. By worth more I mean you take a big hit in value for the fact it isn't running, usually more that the cost of the repairs.

If you can do the work yourself replacing the cam & lifters isn't that hard. If you look around you can find lightly used parts for a good price.

As far as hardtop vs t-top I don't think the hardtop is worth a lot more than the t-top.

Seems like on ls1tech rollers of all 4th gen flavors go for about $2k, unless someone has something really special, like very low miles and mint. Those go for a little more. What are your plans for the car? Keep it or are you trying to sell it? Even if you have to replace the engine from a junkyard, they only cost $3k at the most.

GOOD LUCK in finding an alloy blocked engine in a junkyard, especially around here.

I would attempt to pull the heads and cam myself, except that my HOA does not allow work to be done on your car (or even have the hood open!) in the parking spaces, or even in your OWN driveway!

It is a $50.00 fine the first time, with a $100.00 increase for each incident after that, and the elitest little turd Nazi spy who reports this is ALWAYS driving around the development in his Honda CR-V.

So I am FORCED to go to a shop and be raped/ripped off if I want to keep driving this car. (I have been quoted upwards of $1600.00 for labor ONLY, before parts!)

It IS still running now, but who knows for how long if it is a spun/collapsed/broken/roller missing lifter??

You can also hear it from a block away, so as far as anyone buying it is concerned, it is in essence a 'roller'.

Unfortunately, you're basically giving the car away as a roller, since it's nothing out of the ordinary. Even a 1LE, or B4C car, no one is buying projects these days.

I agree that rollers don't get much money. I have purchased several for $1200 - $1800

To bad you don't have a place to do the work. HOAs really suck. For what it worth I have a mostly complete LS1 sitting in the shop.

I called them and they have a couple hundred LS1's sitting on the shelf. Complete with Fbody accessories and wiring harness for $3k. I don't know if you've ever pulled an engine from these cars or not, but it's really easy. Can't you rent a garage or something?

Sadly that (garage rentals) just don't exist around here, and all of the local shops want $1800+ just to remove and install an LSx out of/into a 4th gen f body.

Yep, been there, experienced that. In our 'old neighborhood', our neighbor converted their garage to a family room, retaining the operating garage door there the area was converted to a small storage area. They also added a carport. The hoa Nazis slapped them with a 'must remove' order, EVEN THOUGH WE HAD A 4-CAR CARPORT ON OUR PROPERTY RIGHT NEXT DOOR. The hoa was pissed that they didn't 'get permission' to build it first.

When my Dad passed away, and I was processing the estate, I discovered the house had a lien on it because the grass wasn't cut often enough for their liking. He was an 80-year-old man living by himself. They didn't bother to come by and see if he needed any assistance, just wanted to make sure their precious little homes didn't loose value because there was a house in the neighborhood with long grass. We sicked our attorney on them and they vacated the lien.

Getting a place without a hoa was the first requirement when we were house hunting. We got a great place in the county with a couple of acres. Sure, there's an abandoned trailer home down the street, and a couple of rental properties across the street that sometimes don't get the maintenance they need, but I can keep my garbage can on the driveway and some nameless, faceless lawyer won't be sending me a letter about it. If my neighbor doesn't like it, he'll tell me.
