I feel like im slowing down too much, when I exit a turn I sometimes find myself in a less than optimal gear, and a bunch of other problems that I have. Im just starting out and I know im gona go to a driving school, but does anyone have any tips to help me out. sad.gif Its no sense in throwing more parts at the car when I cant drive with whats on there right now.

learning to drive the car is always the best 'first' mod. then you can base all the car mods after that.

where are you located?

N.A.S.A. may have a region near you and they have some of the best in HPDE's (High Performance Driving Events) that'll teach you what you need to know with a one on one instructor in your car.

The solution to your problem is ... seat time, seat time and more seat time. You are exactly right that throwing parts at the car won't help, and will in fact make things worse. Take all the money you'd spend on parts and spend it on track time and you'll get a lot better return on it.

Don't get discouraged! A good instructor is what you need. Tell them what you told us and they should have you improving in no time. If you have the desire there is no reason why you can't learn and be successful. Stay positive and believe you can acheive your goals.

Amen brother, amen!

It was pretty humbling to me when I realized after my first couple of track events that my driving sucked. It still does, but its better.

The one thing I've seen over and over and over is concentrate on the line. Its all about the line. Always the line. If you don't recognize the line, know where you are vs the line, you can't ever get fast because you don't know where fast is. Once you know the line, then you can begin to build speed, and alternative lines (for passing and for avoiding being passed) smile.gif

Sure sure, car control is good, reflexes and intuition are great...but if you have all of that and you're off the line its no use. Some old guy with no reflexes left, and bad sight, and old tires will woop your ass...because he knows the line and always has his car on it.
