I need help determining which of these can go now.Obviously the car does not have anything in the creature comfort dept. left,no air bags,no dash.
Both doors are being gutted to facilitate Nascar door bars so no windows or motors.

1&2 black boxes are on same wire leg of harness and were on the fire wall side by side behind ducting.

7&8 relays share their same leg of harness also close to each other. The rest were here and there.

5 is what I think is the "keyless entry" although I never got a fob or even know if it had keyless. It was located pass. side by right hand foot attached to wall. Has TRW on it.

4 silver box is the "body control"I think is this part of air bags? Air bags are gone.

Can anyone who has done this tell what can come out now?

Also on the driverside tucked up under the dash metal left side of steering colum is thi silver box that has 2 multi-wire plugs into it. Below picture

Let me inform you that.....you are on a slipery slope to HELL! ph34r.gif

The short answer is....as long as you don't need any of the stock components (such as power windows, radio, wipers, dash board, lights, etc.etc.) to work....it can all go!

That is what I ended up doing....

No stock wires are INSIDE the car anymore. I had to bring a few wires in from the fire wall to an aftermarket fuse panel I made up in the car to power the PCM and underhood power center (fuse block). I also ran my own wires to toggle switches for ignition and fuel pump, and a button for the starter. Actually, it was not that hard.

But, before doing this I recommend getting a wiring manual...it is HUGE...and studying it REAL good....took me a MONTH! blink.gif And look at Shoebox's website....he has pics and part descriptions for all the boxes you are showing. And go slow.

If you want, I can send you a file that has my homemade fuse box diagram on it, and give you some pointers on what wires you will need, but you will have to live in the manual and spend some intimate time with test lights to make sure you have the correct wires....I wouldn't take my word that the "orange" wire is the right one over the internet... smile.gif

Let me know....

....oh, and I am pretty sure the box up on the steering column is the ABS computer...."Electronic Brake Control Unit".....

...but again....I did this almost 2 years ago now.....memory so VERY foggy... unsure.gif

Correct, its the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module). AKA ABS computer

Yellow wires are usually for airbags so 4 is probably some sort of computer for that. I have no idea about the rest though.

Not sure I like the sound of that...but I get it and I'm sure I'll make it back.I knew that getting rid of these wires would not be that easy.
And also knew that if I did not get the dash out myself could be really messed up if I let the cage guy have to deal with it. It RUNS this way but it aint pretty blink.gif right now wink.gif

My main objective right now is to eliminate as many of these boxes as possible before it goes in for the cage. And really at this point the interior is stripped clean except for that harness mad.gif Some have told me that they have those wires bundled up under the dash still. There is a sheet metal dash that will be there so it would not be tooo bad to have just the wires there inside.I have thoughts of getting the PCM inside also.

Although my intent is to actually get rid of it all together after the cage is done. But am real leary cuz of others horror stories.I want to do it right. Obviously I'm gonna have to get some reference material. If I did have some help on it would make it easier. Sure I'd like to see what you did with the fuse box every little bit will help.

If removing air bags: #4 can be removed w/ no ill effects.
Also (not pictured) 2 other boxes/cubes associated w/ SRS. 1 of them at the right of steering colum bolted up underdash(light yellow color wires w/ it). And the other 1 of them is under center console bolted to tunnel (also the tell tail light yellow color wires w/it). Not to mention and included removal of pass. and driverside bags.
All can be removed you just get a air bag light.

If removing windows/gutting both doors. #1 #2 & #5 can be removed w/ no ill effects.

Also a big chunk/arm of this harness wires associated w/ the windows motors, switches, locks looping driver to passenger door. Can be traced/seperated dry.gif back to the big plug under colum and snipped off nutkick.gif The entire window harness w/ no ill effects.

#3 can not be removed.Car will not start/run if unplugged.

Note:No Ill effects in all cases means car runs and drives while disconnected/eliminated.

So far I have what I need to meet my goal all but one of boxes are gone and a good peice of the harness. But will get rid of all I can. I still have to trace the SRS system wires to origin and eliminate more. I really did not fuss w/ the relays 6-7-8 but am willing to bet they are for fans or something gone already yet to be determined.
