Full Version: Hey Mike ... what about this Charger R/T

I'm hearing rumors that a 6.1 Hemi powered Charger R/T will be coming out soon.

Confirm or deny?

I'm also hearing it's based upon the Magnum Chassis and will be a 4 door ...

I've seen some artist renderings of it, basically a 300C with the Magnum nose and reshaped rear quarters. It simply sucks. A 4,000 lbs looser. blink.gif

From what I heard,,, it's going to happen. I don't think that any official photos have been released but as you and axoid mentiened,,,, it's going to be on the same chassis as the Magnum.

I'm all for it. Dodge hasn't had an intermediate RWD performance car in ages. Remember,,, the original Charger was pretty much an intermidiate size car also, it sure wasn't a compact size car. I've seen a couple of artist pics also, one I like,,,, one I didn't. Just hope it will weigh in under 3800lbs. In any event,,,, good for Dodge.

Sorry it took me awhile to see this. I've been busy of late.

Anyway, there are plenty of renderings of a Charger that have been released but I've seen no official announcement of the car's production dates. Until DCX at least releases the package you're referring to I really can't speak about it (see below).

By the way, the 300, Magnum and Charger are all based on the LX chassis. You'd never know it by looking at the cars though. If DCX has already stated that the 6.1L will go in the 300 and all 3 are based on the same chassis you can make an educated guess about the future.

We're going through the final stages of production launching the 6.1L now for the 300. That's why I've been really busy. I'm getting tired of seeing my bare engine block sitting on that engine stand but at least now I get free First Class upgrades. mad.gif & thumbup.gif

BTW Ralph, I'm sorry what you've seen of the car disappoints you. However, I concentrate on making sure what's under the hood impresses you. At least take one for a test drive when it comes out, if you can find one on a lot. cool.gif

I appreciate the insight ...

Hey, give those guys a little feedback from middle America ... Charger R/T as 4 door?

Even the Volare R/T was a 2 door ...

Think common chassis. That kind of limits your options. I understand your complaint though. Maybe there is another smaller 2 door car coming from DCX that will come closer to lighting your fire. Maybe something a lot cheaper than a Viper . . .

That's really saying alot.... I picked up my Z06 for roughly half of the price of a viper
AllZWay
The original drawings from several years ago had the Charger as simply awesome....it had hidden 4 doors that weren't really noticeable.

Didn't mean to say a lot. It's not public knowledge. I get a kick out of all the people taking digs on the Viper because they want to compare it to a Vette. Nothing could be further from the truth.

....yeah kinda hard to compare....you get a BETTER car for 1/2 the price!

...for double the money you get a TRUCK with a FREAKIN' drag car motor!

...sorry Mike couldn't help show my GM bias...

Hey now. Don't be too hard on that truck. You know it can pass just about everything (in a straight line) except a gas station.

9 mpg??? You have to be a member of OPEC to affrod to drive that thing home from the lot.

Let's see, change the word "car" to "house" and you can describe living anywhere else but CA. Sorry Randy, had to do it.

BTW, have you noticed that the 8.0L truck engine went away and the Viper engine is still alive and well? Perhaps they weren't as similar as you seem to think.

Sometimes things are built just because you can. That's what's fun about working at SRT. Ford used to have a good thing going with SVT, but the Ram SRT-10 shut them up. nutkick.gif GM just doesn't have the balls to compete in that market. :leaving:

It's all good natured ribbing guys. Rivalry is a good thing. Without it jobs like mine wouldn't be so much fun, and heck, they wouldn't exist.

I'll second that!

Mike, stop beating around the bush and just tell us when the Razor is gonna be made!!! smile.gif

I saw a bunch of new Charger drawings...it did look pretty damn cool. I wonder how heavy it will be. That said, the original Chargers were also pretty heavy...which actually helped their ETs since they could actually put some of that power down (compared to 'Cudas and such..)

On a slightly similar topic, there used to be a site called car-truck.com that had just awesome info on upcoming DCX stuff. That guy's site was top notch! Then it went away...where do you get good insider info on DCX?? (what can I say, I'm an old Dodge fan)

You can try http://www.allpar.com . Many insiders post there.
