Going after work. Considered finding someone who was voting opposite of me and going out for a beer. Figured it would null out and we'd skip the 2 hour lines in Ohio. My wife was not amused.

Hope my wife doesn't mind me writing her in for the 17th district house seat in Illinois. I couldn't bring myself to vote for either of the candidates running for that office.

Done this morning at 7:30 am. Moved without changing the address on my voter regestration, so 20 miles north to vote, then 50 miles south to work.

Headed there now. 2 hours in the rain awaits me.

But I do get to vote to ban smoking in restaurants if I want to.....

And, someone said something about a president or something.....

Never smoked a cigarette in my life, but I think as Mark Russell put it, that it's almost fascist to pass laws telling private businesses what they can and can't do, particularly when it's an otherwise legal activity.

That said, I was recently in California, and sure did like the smoke-free atmosphere when I was out. I got back to the hotel room and out of habit, sniffed my khakis to see if they had another night on the town left in them.

One of the joys of not being in a "battleground state". But then again, my vote for president doesn't count since I'm in California.

I waited in line for a whole 5 minutes.
No, I didn't vote straight party ticket.

It could be worse, your vote could not count (Illinois, and I only voted once) and you live close enough to Iowa that you're subjected to all of their ads.

If I could have voted, I would have done it last week already since I am on the road for business. Wife went to vote this morning, decided the line was too long and went this afternoon instead.

Done. Absentee'd from Alabama. I also wrote myself in for one position that was running otherwise unopposed. (I know the guy running and basically, I couldn't let him get in without a fight... )

It was bsuy here yesterday at 6am so I came back close to 4pm and didn't wait a second.

My friend in Cleveland waited over 2 hours.

The polls for the northern part of the county and the northermost city in the county were at opposite ends of the same gym. It sure was nice to just stroll casually by the the long city line and just vote with no waiting

4pm and I walked in, voted and was back in my truck, all within 5 minutes.

Why is it EVERYTHING in Texas is faster, bigger ... just better in general?

All those other states really do suck, you know ...

Texas: It's like a whole, well, "different" country....

Actually, sippin' drinks at the Oasis on Lake Travis would have been a FINE way to watch the election returns. By that I mean of course watching the sunset from one of the terraces, and occasionally checking out a TV on the way to the recycling station

My experience was the same.....and the polling place was someone's garage about 1 block from my house.....could've walked there!

Are you chiseling out ballots on stone tablets? I can't believe Ohio had THAT much more turnout than other states....

I'm not sure, but I wish we'd have done it faster.....

California had almost double (rough math) the turnout, but they have lots more land to spread precints over. My line took forever, 3 others closed up while I was in line because they were done. The districting seems to be a problem here. 90% of the people in one line, 3 other lines that are almost empty. 3 voting machines per line.

We, apparently, just suck......

3 machines per line and hundreds lined up....

I walked up and there were two people in front of me....and about 15 booths to go into....

AND my polling place was a block away from me in a garage....and there was another polling place CLOSER TO MY HOUSE!
