I haven't personally run with them but I am familiar with the group. I have two friends that are instructors for them and I did check them out when they were running Moroso a couple of years ago. I rode with two different instructors that day and everyone was pretty well behaved and the event seemed to go smoothly. My buddy was trying to talk me into running my first DE and wanted me to ride with someone. That was all it took and I was hooked. tongue.gif

Chin does open sessions where all run groups are out at the same time but they do have an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon where it is solo drivers and instructors only. They put a X on the back glass of the novice cars so that you know who to look at for.

Hopefully somebody will post that has actually done an event with them.

Man, that might be crowded. So far there's about 36 signed up for the double day event w/another 10 for the Sat event only.

I verified what you said by referring to the schedule. In the am there is one session for solo qualifiied and two for novice out of a total of nine sessions. In the pm there is only one solo session. All the rest are combined. Even w/the long course it could be a challenge and frustrating out there w/novice drivers all day. Keep in mind it will have traditional passing rules w/a point by.

Bottom line, two solo sessions. i donno.

The "open session" thing is why I haven't run with them yet. I'm still a relative newbie with only 4 weekends under my belt and I wanted to get a little more experience before I was thrown in with that kind of mix. I thought it might concern you so that's why I mentioned it.

I've run two events with them: one at Moroso, and one last month at Homestead. (My avatar is a pic from that event).

I don't have experience with any other club, so my opinion is, essentially, delivered in a vaccum.

I enjoyed myself immensely both days. I shared my car with a friend, who has alot more experience than me. At Homestead, he was a solo driver, and was out on the track when I was in novice class sessions in the morning and afternoon. At the end of the day, we were both utterly exhuasted, and had logged enough seat time to burn through 3 tanks of gas, a new set of brake pads (stock) and a set of 5000 mile BFG KDW's.

The $5.00/gallon fuel at Homestead is rough, but the unnacceptable alternative was to leave the premises and get less track time.

It can get a bit crowded at times, particularly when all cars are on the track. However, my instructors were great and the organizers were very much in control and ran a tight ship. Great novice event, but I'm not sure how better and more experienced drivers will like it.

My buddy did NASA's Sebring event this past weekend in his 1972 240z, and liked it better than Chin.
