Hello folks, just found this beautiful site! What a wealth of info for us F Body types! I have an '01 T/A Firehawk for the street and an '82 T/A GT1 racecar. I'm going to be spending HOURS checking out all this great stuff. Oh yeah, I'm in British Columbia so I won't have to talk US presidential politics at all!

Welcome to the board.
We try to skip the politics here and we have a really good group that hangs out here, I think you'll like it. (I hope).

CMC #37 you have great taste in cars! I've been thinking of hitting the I-5 to CMC territory for years, but never quite finish the plans...reason is that I don't want to tow that far to find out there is no class for my CACC GT1 to run in down there. Can you help me see if there's any way to be sure of a hassle-free entry in any of the available classes? My previous car was IP (Improved Production) which seemed to be close to the basic CMC rules, but my 'new' 'TA this year will be built to the GT1 SCCA rulebook. I don't care about winning at all, just wanna drive some of the great tracks in CA!

As long as you know who M.Martin is, you're fine.

Hey Reentry, that would be great to see you make that I5 tow someday! Our Northernmost track is Thunderhill in Willows, CA, just happens to be the one closest to me and my favorite! You can certainly run with us for no points, there is a provision in our rules where folks can "try us out" for a couple races with cars that are not exactly spec. See the rules on our website for details. You can always send me a spec sheet on your car too, I'll have the directors look at it to see how close you are. We do have a Canadian guy that flies down to drive with us.

I know someone who would probably rent you a CMC car too!

Thanks for the reply!

I'll put a spec. sheet together for my car as well as for my ex-car (my buddy's now) and get it to you. I will check the CMC rules per your suggestion when I get a few minutes. I haven't looked at them in about 3 years!

I'm too lazy to do the spec sheet properly tonight, its been a really crappy day. So here's what I think you need on the two cars I could bring to CA:
My '82 TA: completely stripped, new panel, rewired, master shut-off, battery box in rear pass. position, 22 gal fuel cell, lexan bulkhead to drivers compartment, steel clutch scattershield, 5lb. Halon 1211 fire system w/two nozzles, 1/4" lexan front glass w/clips, cage extends to the strut towers, which are modified with Ground Control caster/camber plates allowing -3 1/2 degrees camber, STB, Bilstein shocks, 1LE springs all around cut down 1/2 coil, 12" Baer ASedan spec front brakes, PBR 1LE rears, T5 W/C trans. The engine in there right now is my 180,000 mile '94 GMC 350 truck block back-up engine only but it has dyno'd over 300 RWHP. It has my 'good' engine's ZZ4 heads/cam/air-gap intake/750 Holley/ long tube headers with full dual exhaust all the way to the rear. Rear end is an Aussie 9-bolt, welded solid, or my alternate for rain, 3.45 posi.
The '89 IROC: car is gutted except for dash, but has extra instruments to the right of the stock location, retains original LB9 305 engine w/T5 trans/same 9-bolt rears, factory 1LE PBR brakes front and rear, cage doesn't extend thru the firewall, battery is stock location, F/I is stock, mid-length Hooker headers to a NASCAR type side exhaust on each side, no lexan, stock fuel tank and emissions, STB, stock camber plates, stock wheels and DOT tires. WHEW!! If you read all this you're a true F-Bod junkie... :drive:
