Quick question, if your changing the color of the caliper (black) to red powdercoat is there a way to keep the lettering in the wilwood caliper from having red powdercoat. I know there has to be someway the lettering can be preserved so it's not red powdercoated during the process. Thanks for any help.... The front calipers are are SL6 Wilwood's and the rears are 4 piston Wilwood's.

There is, talk to your powdercoater. Powdercoating is sprayed on cold and then baked. You can effectively mask anything you don't want coated prior to the spray process, just like if you were masking before painting.

What Al said, but if it is just the lettering you want in "aluminum" color, you can gently take a file/sandpaper with a block and sand the lettering back off....but it would probably look better never being coated.....

Thanks for the input guys ! Do you have any suggestions on an easy way to mask off that tiny lettering or will the powdercoater have some special way to accomplish what I want done.

Well...Randy's idea works pretty well. You can also just lay down a wide piece of masking tape over the entire area then use a new xacto or razor to cut off what isn't needed.

The powedercoater should have a special tape to cover anything you don't want powdercoated. I talked to one when I was thinking of having my intake done and he gave me a roll of this tape to use.

if your doing it yourself. simply spray everything then wipe your finger over the letters. esentially wiping the powder off. that should take care of it. anything left after baking can just be sanding witha fine grit sanding block. i powder coat a lot and thats all i do. works fine.

as for tape. if that stuff will go in the oven i need to get some. if i tape anything i just use masking tape and leave a tip up to grab onto then pull it off before baking
