I'm torn between my annual trip to Watkins Glen with the SCDA and this event.
Track time at the Glen is Monday & Tuesday, the 2nd & 3rd. Then I'd have to travel 1022 miles to Memphis for Thursday, Friday and Sat (the 5th,6th & 7th). Then travel home from there, another 1000 miles or so.

1000 miles ... not that much
i just registered... the form was a pita, had to redo it several times, so many requirements... geech.
i won't be able to drag... cause they require a 5-pt and i only have a 4-pt

Im just waiting to hear back from Ken On 1 issue and I will be on the List. John

Most definitely. It's the one time a year that I get to hang with many of my online car buds. I've only participated in the drags up to this point. Being on this board for the last four mos. has got me thinking about doing the road course and AX this year.

Well if I do end up road racing, it'll be in the purp. 96. I'll need to get the Hals out and the Bilsteins in, different springs up front, an oil cooler setup, get the BMR tubular front end stuff swapped back out for stock, finish off the vette brakes and ducting, new harnesses, and maybe a canton pan. It's a pretty good list of stuff, so if I don't get it done in time I guess I'll just bring the black 94 and drag again. See ya at Wayne's this weekend Karen

Who needs a roommate? I don't intend to stay overnight on Saturday. I think I'll just get a head start on getting home after the banquet.

I'm not sure where we're staying, but we may have room. My friend Bill is coming with me and we are both running the autocross in my car. I've not even looked at hotels yet, but it will either be that or a tent, bring a sleeping bag, you're welcome to crash with us (one way or the other).

Funny you say that, I was thinking camping too.

I have a camp stove, plenty of cast iron cookware, lantern, etc. We usually eat well when we camp at events.

If I make this event, I plan on sleeping in my suburban. Camping would be fun... as long as the weather isn't bad.

After last years 24 hours of Daytona, I know that my tent is weather proof.

Sounds like we need an official FRRAX campground.

Heaven knows my tent is watertight. My summer vacations wouldn't be complete without a downpour or tornado warning.

If you're coming down I-71, we should link up and make the trip to Memphis. Eugenio will be here (I think we are installing his Porsche brakes the evening before we leave town).

Actually, I'll make it easy. But this does not do justice to the fact that it was 40 degrees and the wind was breaking the fiberglass poles on dome tents (mine lived).

Well, with 23 people, I was going to spring for the entire case of beer, but I guess I'll get by with a 6 pack unless something changes.

It says it's $75 a night for a double. I figure that we can stick 4 of us in a room (a few sleeping bags and such) and that makes it $18.75 per night (each). A friend is coming with me, and I think Eugenio is (probably) crashing with us. I'm not sure if John (Ojustracing) is planning to stay with us or not, but I may have an opening, or we may be able to stuff 5 people in there (always interested in racing "on the cheap").

I plan on being there but haven't registered yet. I'd be coming in my Z28. We're going through our production engine launch right now so I've been really short on time at home over the past few weeks.

Most likely I'll not be racing but I like coming to the event to just see the other cars and meet up with some of the people. I never thought I'd get so burned out on racing, but I guess it may stick for awhile.

I lived most of my life in Memphis and my Mom still lives there so I get free room and board.

I havent regeistered yet Im still trying to work a detail out with Ken. He's been slow with his PM's. It might be a good thing though or I misunderstood his PM. Later John

I just got a new job... and need to tell my boss today that I'll be quitting... so I don't see myself being able to free myself for another week, since I'm still going to Europe for over 3.5 weeks even with the new job.

I'd love to go also, but it's hard for me to get away from work too. I have a friend here locally that ran the autocross last year in Indy. He ended up I believe with the 2nd quickest time at the event running drag radials and street tires. You guys that are going should have a pretty good shot at FTD based on comparison times when I've run with him. The last time I ran him there was about a 3 second spread on about a 50 second course. Trust me when I say that I'm not really that good either.

If you have never been to the National Event, you are really in for a great time. 6 20-minute sessions in two days is just about as much track time as you can handle. By the end everyone is pretty much done and ready to put the car back on the trailer . It has to be the best track-time-for-the-buck of any event all year.

Also, do plan on staying at the hotel. 1/2 the fun of the event is the hanging and chillin in the parking lot (plus all the antics that occur in the weeeeee hours). Of course, parking lot burn-outs as well as trailer! burn-outs have been banned!

I am still thrashing to get the trailer done (tire rack on it, first I have to design and build it) and get the hitch on my car. The plates that drop through holes in the frame won't fit through my frame. So, creativity is required. And, I've been sick this weekend. I'm going to make it, somehow.

My car's easy to find. Look for a black 2002 Z28 (with T-tops) and a 24" wide frrax sticker at the top of the rear window (done in silver, red and black, I had a new one made since the black didn't show up on the glass....I know I'm the only one that has that sticker).
