The FX2 expands on the FX1 by logging up to 10 runs, comes with a power cord that allows you to run the unit without having to reach the display's buttons. You can download to a Palm or PC with some optional software. Also the FX2 has a Friction circle and brake test capability beyond the Peak G and 60-0 braking test built into the FX1.

All units come with power cord and windshield mounts.

I just ordered an FX2. Looks like it could be interesting to play with.

So far (just a few minutes of playing and a short trip), it looks to have some really neat features. It will graph (think "G-anaylist") your G-forces in 2 axis at once (and display an arrow in the direction of peak combined force, that's neat to watch at times) and list them on the display. It will calculate the total G-loading during braking and turning (trail braking?) as part of the traction circle test. It will measure 60-0 braking and lots of other stuff I've not had time to find yet. I'll do more playing and report back what I find (I bought an FX2, so that's what I'm reporting on). So far, it looks quite interesting.

Well, I just hooked up the laptop and went to play. When you download the runs, you can see tirespin by looking at the HP graph. It allows you to see when the curve "hops" due to traction problems. I will tell you that you can run a 0-60 time of 5.45 seconds on snow tires on an easy launch (if you can keep it hooked up) and it will track time to acceleration anywhere on the scale. You can measure your "shift time" by clicking on the graph on both sides of your "dip" from the shift and figure the distance you rolled while shifting the same way. The computer software does not seem to support anything but the drag racing (0-60, 1/4 mile and 60-0 runs, though I didn't do a 60-0 run) stuff, it does not seem to track lateral grip, but I'll have to log more data and play with it to find out. The software is not real complex, but by weighing your vehicle or using your dyno sheets to calibrate the weight (until the numbers match), you may be able to test your mods with some degree of accuracy).

The software is not required, but it's kinda neat.
