oh, about 3 miles from home after work I notice a vibration.
I pull over on a side street, get out, and do a quick walk around.
Everything seems ok.
It gets real bad about 1.5 miles out. I drive nice n slow.
Turning the right hand corner from Wellsbranch onto Wellsport something bad happens

Luckily I was only going bout 10 miles an hour at this point.
I ran home two blocks and loaded up the 9C1 w/ my harbor freight jack, tire iron, and 'spare'.
When I got back the sheriffs dept was already there w/ lights on.
I got it taken care of.

ohmy.gif WOW.... it makes you wonder how long the wheel has been cracked. Is it a GM wheel?

Darn it that sucks. So no other damage other than the wheel? Which looks like Vette rim "sawblades". Could have been serious Morgan glad no real BIG mishap took place. smile.gif

Have you had alot of track time on those rims? Like fatigue? Could have been a good smack before you got the car or rims awhile ago and just now decided to let go or something unsure.gif .

I've never seen that before.

even more perplexing, I never hit a curb w/ those rims nor have I used them for track days. Just plane ol street rims I've had for years. Yep, chromed 9.5" sawblade rims on my C4. Guess I'm on the lookout for some new ones although this time I may go ZR1 style. I have two matching 17x8.5" spare rims to use, but I think I'd rather just get a different set.

Wow, I don't ever think I've seen one of those style C4 rims break without having had some type of impact.

I've seen that one before. I've never seen the sawblades break. Wasn't it discussed that the powdercoating of the red rims may have softened them and helped them to fail? Or was that some where else we discussed that?
