I realize that you just recently finished up a GP and shipping on a batch of Bob's brackets, but I'm curious to know if anyone has an ETA on a new GP for the next batch?

What's the price on them when you run one?

I'm not sure that there will be another GP. That's going to be up to Bob. I think he was going back into retirement after the second batch. Maybe he'll drop in here.

I do still have 69TA's brackets sitting here. I'm going to ship them direct for him. So, I've got them boxed and ready to go.

No more C5 caliper adaptor brackets from me. PERIOD.

If you all can come up with 22 more buyers who are willing to pay $500/set for just the brackets, well, still – NO MORE C5 BRACKETS from me.

I didn’t make enough money to justify this unless my own interest was still piqued. The challenge for this project is gone; all of the obstacles were overcome. I feel the design is optimized for what it is. Even though I wanted to stop making them after my 5th batch of steel brackets, there was always another change or enhancement to the design or manufacture or material or post treatment that I though of, and wanted to implement.

If I tackle brackets for the C6 Z06 front brakes, I will now have a giant head start. Although I would probably go another direction for an adaptor in that application.

If there is really still demand for the C5 brackets, I might help Trackbird get a local machine shop in his area up to speed on making these this summer.

How 'bout supplying the dimensions so we can get 'em made at emachineshop? I now find myself in need of a pair of these brackets, so I'd like to buy a set from someone if available, or have a set made.

Bob you should sell the dimensions.....relatively inexpensively but still, its your intellectual property and I don't think anyone would blame you if you sold the dimensions to private persons for personal use for a modest fee for each sale.

I get many requests for my drawings or CNC operations software. There is much more to a part than its dimensions. That is one reason that I have never given out anything. I have had 3 or 4 offers to buy my design. After speaking with each interested party, it was obvious that they did not take safety NEARLY as seriously as I do, or just did not understand everything that affects the long term reliability of a highly stressed part in a hostile environment. When I explained what was required to make my bracket correctly (out of aluminum), one inquirer told me that my execution was extreme “overkill”. Amazing; he had not done the lab tests of multiple prototypes for deflection (and to destruction) as I had, or done 3 years of field testing prototypes on the street and race track as I did before I would sell them, but he had determined the real requirements in 15 minutes over the phone.

It is exactly such a casual attitude that leads to failed aftermarket parts. If I were to provide complete “plans” for the parts (they are left and right handed) and someone were to ignore some of the steps in manufacturing or post-treatment, or use inadequate fasteners, and a part failed in service, I would have partial legal liability. If I had not charged money for the plans, I could probably win in court, but it is a major expense and hassle to have to defend yourself from a frivolous law suit. There used to be a gentleman’s code in racing which prevented suing unless there was malicious intent. No longer. “Negligence” is a very large umbrella today; this is 2005, and some of us live in America. They might have a difficult time serving me in Kathmandu, but they could put a lean against my Gulfstream 550 when I landed at an American airport.

You would probably be shocked to find out what Emachineshop would charge to make a set of these to my exact spec.
