Hmmm some big announcement at 12 PST and every mod saying they were lied too.... interesting indeed.

Here we go-what's been obvious for YEARS has finally hit the fan...

Admin Statement
To whom it may concern:

Effective noon today, February 12, 2004, I am resigning my position as Administrator for www.ls1.com. My reason for my resignation boils down to distrust. I have been a steadfast proponent of this site for 6 years. I have backed the owner of this site on whatever stance he selected as being board policy. I and the other members of the moderating staff take a man at his word. Recently, things have come to the surface that has given me cause to doubt the honesty and integrity of actions and promises of this site.

Financial issues have long been a touchy subject on this site and I have been privy to the real story behind the scenes. I will not defend or reveal any of the situations more than to say that uncontrollable occurrences can come up and the best plans can go awry. However, I can only take a person at their word.

I have threatened to resign from this site before and stated to the site owner that my remaining here was hinged totally on the payment of all creditors in a prompt manner. Recently, we changed ISP services and the break left some money being owed to the former ISP. At first glance, it appeared that the site was trying to sneak off and not pay the overdue fees but I was assured by the site owner that all that was required was for the old ISP to present a bill and the entire amount would be sent immediately and the account would be all square.

The bill left the ISP on 1-9-04 went to the address as directed by this site owner. It is now 2-11-04 and the bill has not been paid.

I feel that 1 month is MORE than an adequate amount of time to pay a bill especially when the promise was made of “immediate payment upon receipt”. Again, I’m sure factors could have come into play that made that expectation impossible but no factors were brought to my attention and I awaited payment to go to the old ISP. I became aware of the “factors” last night at 11:30PM EST. I simply said, “Too late. Why wasn’t this information made privy to me as it occurred?”

Because of this, it appears that my faith and trust have been wrongly placed and although the intent was there to pay the bill as promised it was known during the last 30 days that it wasn’t going to happen. I WILL NOT be associated to this type of slipshod operation.

My resignation was openly announced in the moderator forum on Tuesday and I clearly stated that I would post this fact at noon today. Well, under cover of darkness, things happen. It appears that I, and many Former Moderators, have become “Members” during the wee hours of the morning and I was not allowed the dignity of stepping down at noon. Well, one wouldn’t expect that to happen with a class operation but it happened here. To the Ex-Moderators, I proudly say thank you for your support and all of the work you did while you were moderating your forums. Principle and honor are excellent traits and you have stepped up to show that you have these traits in abundance.

I’d like to congratulate Kyle on stepping up to the plate and shouldering the load as Administrator. I had a different impression of your position on this but I must have been mistaken. Good luck with your new job.

As a regular member I might visit once in a while to say hi to friends. I’m sure there are other existing and some new sites in planning on the internet where I can trust the people that run them to be honest and truthful in their dealing with the Members, Moderators, Administrators and the ISP.

There is a chance that I may be involved in a new site that would go into direct competition with this site. If that does come to fruition, I would invite all of you to join us at the new site. We will be looking for honorable Moderators and Members to be part of an honest and trustworthy car site.

I don’t know how long this post will last and I would hope that no one causes it to be locked or deleted into the board trashcan. If you have comments, please be civil.

So, I wish all of you good luck in your lives and with your cars.

Elmer

There must be something in the air, today. ohmy.gif That is the second site that I regularly visit, to go down today. Sheesh! blink.gif

Well, that thread has been deleted (surprise) but Rob managed to post the frrax url without it being deleted by former moderator McRat (who, uh, gave it an extra nod of his own). I do miss the  smiley.

The sad thing is Brad is making 80K or so a year off the site by doing nothing. rolleyes.gif Funny how long it took for people to add it up.

I have a feeling that once that place goes to hell in a handbasket, LS1tech is going to get overloaded with people. But they are talking about making LS2.com. Basically a waste of bandwitdh IMHO. All its going to be is all the postwhores from the AAG section.

In other news Ls1tech has created a "northwest" section from the fall out of the LS1 crap. guess who the lucky guy is that is the mod for it biggrin.gif
Eric02z
hmmm...doesnt make a ton of sense but oh well.

The only thing left was the 4-sale section anyway. tongue.gif

wink.gif I almost deleted it thinking it might hurt our image-but it's more anti-brad than anything. cool.gif

More to the point, you are risking attracting the "in before the lock" AAG crowd if any of them happen to wander in to AX/OT/RR/TT

Before tonight I would have had NO IDEA what that meant. biggrin.gif

Those guys were on that thread like vultures on dead meat.

Lucy....I'm HOME!

Hi guys. I kinda abandoned LS1.com after the last "free for all" and I missed the now infamous "coilover thread". So, I kinda threw in the towel over there (mostly), I'd lurk, but not much posting. Heck, one day I woke up and Mitch was out, McRat was in. Now, McRat is out, etc. Are we having fun yet or what? I think I need a break in the weather so I can go bash cones with a 3600 lb, 6 speed bat. Then all may be right with the world.

Glad to see most of the irregulars are already in attendance.

I hear the cones shaking already......

I like you guys and this place... but why do some people need to steer trouble where they don't want to be nomore... GROW UP !

I agree.

Oh I don't know ... maybe it's just human nature to kick something when it's down?

Kevin (Trackbird) ... glad you made it over.
Talk some sense into these people ...
trackbird
That would require me to have enough sense to go around. I'm running a bit short these days and can barely keep up on my end, much less share. But, anything for a friend, I'll do what I can.....

Well, maybe there's a little animosity toward that place not only because its sucking so bad was the biggest reason for the creation of this place, but also because when this place was created and linked on numerous boards all the boards were OK with it except for LS1.com.
AllZWay
I think the hatred comes from the Owner being a moron... getting rich off of free labor and criticizing them afterwards. He appears to be a crook, theif and overall sorry person.

The question is: Why would anyone want to support that type of person??

I say keep on kicking that piece of crap site. tongue.gif

Initially, my position was similar to Scott’s (Absolute Speed). But after reading the ex-moderator and ex-administrator posts at LS1tech, I had some serious doubts concerning Brad’s integrity. And many of those people were very devoted to him. But ... after reading Brad’s own explanation of the problems (and even worse, the attitude he conveys), I no longer have doubts. I think it would be morally weak for me to stay in a neutral position. He sounds like the type of neighbor that brings a whole neighborhood down and that makes others sell their homes to escape. I am puzzled that anyone, seeing Brad’s character, would buy the house next door.
rmackintosh
....does it REALLY matter? The place is going downhill fast even WITHOUT all the rucus! Sounds like it may be deserved.... I NEVER go there anymore...no real reason to....unless I want some amusement...

well you guys at least see why i got a 24 hr ban just before this site was created. i was speaking my mind about something they didnt want to know themselves.

Yup. The last time I was there I got banned for three days. All I did was question why a mod edited a nonsupporting business name from a post when a couple other supporting vendors were named too. The guy was looking for a new convertible top. I thought it was trivial. XTrooper disagreed and I got 72 hours in the hole. I aint been back yet. I never hung out there much anyway.

BTW - hi. Been registered here for a bit, figured I'd actually make a post.

Greetings,

I just posted in here that I won't get into politics, but I feel I need to clear my name.

I was called up by the Admins at LS1.COM (I had resigned from moderator a few months back) to replace Mitch as mod in the AX forum after he quit.

As a mod, my first job is "damage control". I wanted to keep the racers together and not split off into 20 different directions. So according the LS1.COM rules, I edited references to competing boards AFTER I notified the writer what I was going to do. That is what a moderator does. The dirty work.

The coilover thread was fun. Lou wanted the thread deleted and I refused. Finally he went over my head to the admins, so I moved it to the Archives.

I did not stun, ban, or punish anyone in that forum. But I did field hundreds of PM's and Emails over the subject. It sucked.

So hate me if you like. Got a lot of folk throwing it my way lately. biggrin.gif My guess is you would have done the same thing if in my shoes.

PS - I tried REAL hard to get Mitch back as Mod in there. But the admins at the board refused multiple requests. My goal was to put out the fires, get Mitch back, then resign again. It just didn't work that way.

McRat, you did a hell of a great job... I really enjoyed working with you.
I know exactly what you feel... because we were in the same battle... but I guess it didn't work out as we wished... maybe we like the wishful thinking part.
It's not easy being a mod and letting things go when they are borderline.
I try to always let all the info available, while not breaking any rules... but sometimes, that makes people not too happy... part of the game, I guess.
I like the respect from this board... I think it falls down to the racers respect. biggrin.gif
