Im doing the grip mod smile.gif and im wondering if anyboy had some pic's of thier fender's? I have read all of the thread's on this and didn't want to go to far with the BFH! Im going to heat it and cut under the lip, but would like to know how far to cut and bang away!

I'm installing

17x11 36mm o/s
kuhmo v710 315's
mostly stock formula firebird(4x4) suspension
(35mm strano- prothane a-arm B- poly/poly PHB hopefully Kevin's by next weekend!)

I'm planning on doing mine real soon. I borrowed a lip roller and a heat gun from work. Planning on rolling the rear lips on a friends Camaro this weekend. I'll try to take some pictures. The heat gun is a key to keeping your paint from cracking. Ideally you want the temperature to be about 125 to 140* F. The heat gun I'm using has an adjustable temperature setting so it shouldn't be a problem. If you have ever felt the finish on a dark colored car in sunlight that would be about where you want to be.

Here's a link to the type of roller I'll be using

We rolled the fenders on a friends 96 Z28 Sunday. The first fender we did, we cracked the paint. Even with the heat gun it was a little too cold outside. The second fender went a lot better as we started to figure out what the hell we were doing. When you got to a spot weld there was a lot more resistance to wanting to bend. I'll probably try it on mine. The secret is to go slow and keep the surface of the paint heated.

I live in CA so temp wasn't to bad, but i waited till noon and used a halogen shop light and a bar stool.

I did mine by using snips to cut the lip that sticks out every .5 to .75 inches. Then using a hammer, knocked the lip up. Worked great, didn't require heat, and didn't crack the paint.

Exactly Steve. That's the way I did mine. No need to bend a 1 piece fender. Cut it into strips and make easy work of it. No heat needed and no cracks caused.

Here are some pictures of the lip roller used

Here's the end result. No cracking of the paint biggrin.gif

Actually it's dirtier than it usually is biggrin.gif . It's easy to keep clean when you hardly ever drive it. The car is an 02 with 6900 miles on it. It's never seen snow and very little rain. I got anal last summer and got a little carried away with the POR15, which by the way is really great stuff.

Give me a few weeks to get some other projects sorted out and I may order one up and get it headed my way.
