Hi, I am looking at buying a used set of your brackets, they are advertised as 2.5 years old. Did your design change at all since then? I read about how you have them cold anodized, and used a particular aluminum. Has it always been that way?

I want a set of your brackets, but I keep reading that they will not be made any time soon. So, used is my best bet. Do you have any recommendations as too what to look for? Damage, wear, etc?

Oh, I can PM you the ad for them if you like.

Thanks for any help.

In August of 2003, I changed my brackets from a welded steel design to a one piece billet aluminum design. The design changed dramatically. The aluminum brackets are 3 lbs lighter per pair, and at maximum load, measure just less than ½ the deflection of the steel brackets (still very little in either case). They are both very strong pieces, and customers are using both designs happily. The steel brackets would have the higher ultimate strength, but that would not make a difference in the real world because the 10mm mounting bolts will always yield before either the steel or aluminum bracket. That was reflected in all lab tests of the final designs of both brackets (the versions that were sold to the public).

Both versions of the bracket withstood over 22,000 lbs (on one bracket) without any failure. The ARP bolts I included with the last 77 sets of brackets might increase that figure somewhat.

The steel brackets sold new in the $200 range and the aluminum brackets sold in the $270 range. Someone may be re-starting production of my aluminum brackets within the next month; but no guarantees. There is a sticky thread in the brake section concerning my brackets. You might post your interest there; I am sure it is being watched.

Thank you very much. I think I did add my name to the bracket waiting list.
