LOL! sorry I cant help but laugh. The all powerful, omnipresent "Big Red". Well, let me tell you what happened. It CHOKED, Just like I told everyone it would. Things have changed ALOT in the ORR world since that car ran last (15 years ago). You know, technology, road conditions etc etc etc etc etc.

Big Red was only able to manage A 17X. To add insult to injury a viper beats it. Thank god for FI that can compensate for high DA's.
Formula WS6
only 170 something MPH? thats weak. i know on some of the other boards i frequent there were a lot of people wanting to see bigh red lose. not that they didnt like the car, just that there are better out there. like one guy with an LS1 powered ultima thinking about juicing it to help out.

The Ultima probably isnt able to run the Big Red competition.. The rules clearly state that the vehicle has to at least resemble a production car.. Ive never seen anything production that looks like the Ultima. They are pretty schweet Kit cars though..

Speaking of Kit Cars, has anyone seen the soon to be new offering from Factory Five Racing? Its called the GTM.. That thing is Bad Ass! Looks like the Ultima is going to take a quick back seat in my book!
Formula WS6
ah i didnt know that it had to be a production car.

to top the ultima wont be easy, but pretty much the only thing that ever could would be another kit car. ill have to keep me eyes open for that new F5 car. thanks

There was an Ultima at the last NASA northeast autocross, while it was getting jump started I had a chance to check it out some and I can't say I was overly impressed. It had a carbed small block in it, I guess I was expecting to see an LS1, Viper motor, or something more exotic. The control arms weren't bent to shape, instead they were cut and welded together. It looks like they use poly bushings when I was expecting to see rod ends. I even noticed in a pic that the suspension bolts, although grade 8 looking, didn't have many exposed threads sticking out the locknuts!! It looks like the windows don't roll down, the frame rail you have to step over to get in looks 4 times wider than the C4s, and I'll probably have a hard time squeezing into it.

After saying all that I'm still a little jealous and would love to drive it.

There are pics of it on pages 1 -4, 6, 11.
