How so? The passengers weren't even in the Honda minivan during the autocross runs.

They made it look like the chicks were in the van then. However you look at it it's a pretty sorry clip for implying it, especially when you can see the guy driving the daytona is wearing a helmet.

The last issue of Grassroots Motorsports said they would be doing this "test". People think muscle cars are fast because they have a lot of torque. 2 weeks ago I was riding with a friend in his Kia sprectre and we saw a 55 T'bird. He said wow that thing must be fast, then I told him that I could kill that thing around an autocross course in his Kia. He looked at me funny and didn't believe me. I should send this to him.

Gentleman's clubs in the mid west are as common as convenience stores here in the East. Kind of sad actually.

I hope those who are going spastic over the video realize that on a regular TV screen, it's obvious there is no one in the back of the minivan while it's on course, and the scenery from the in-van shoots clearly does not match the scenery of the Nourth Course.

As if four "entertainers" from the Kansas City/Topeka area would be stupid enough to actually autocross without seatbelts and helmets....

I couldn't see very well, but it struck me as odd that they'd imply it.

And, I can't say much, I was 3/4 of the way through my first run in Memphis when I realized the funny banging noise I heard was my helmet rolling around in the back seat, slamming into the side panels. Somehow, I forgot to put it on and the starter waved me off without noticing either. I guess Brian Burdette was working the course and radioed in and said "Uh, guys, don't we need helmets for this event?" As I pulled into the staging area, my cell phone rang, it was my co driver who was working the course. I simply answered "Yea, I'm putting it on".

Maybe that's why it struck a cord with me.....

I think it's in the last issue of GRM, Where GRM or SCCA has been trying to get the show to put helmet's on, but they won't do it

I saw this in person at the '04 nationals. I think Howard Duncan was driving both cars. I also think he was affraid of the Daytona, or atleast afraid a spinning it. It didn't seem like he pushed it very hard. I remember thinking that I could beat the minivan in the Daytona. And no, the mini van did not have passengers while on course.

I would hope the SCCA would say something considering Speed included a shot of the front of the SCCA headquarters.



I've gotten to the start line once and forgot, luckly the starter reminded me. At a ProSolo once I forgot to take my airtank out of the trunk, as soon as I launched I knew what was banging around in the back.

I can trump all of you. My codriver at a local comes running up to me after his first run and says, "OMG, I heard a thump in the first turn, and I realized I forgot to take the turtle out!"

I'd picked a box turtle out of the road on the way to the event, and told Matt he had to remember to take it out before his runs. Fortunately, I think it's shell was Snell M90.

At one of our Regional events, one of our veteran competitors took off, made the right-hander off the start, made the left-hand sweeper and then came to a stop. Got out, opened his hatch, hended his air tank to a corner worker, got back in, buckled up and continued his run, just like it was a required manuver for the run. And he was like the second guy out for the event, immediately after the driver's meeting where the monologue included 'remove everything that is not tied down from your car, like floor mats, CDs, air tanks....' Too funny.

I did similar at a night event. Took off, made the left-hander off the start, and then worked my way through the second-gear slalom. I remember that on the right-hand gates, I had something that kept hitting me in the arm. It wasn't until about the third gate that I realized my helmet was trying to tell me something. I ran the rest of the run holding the helmet at bay in the passenger's seat.

After my run, I was getting out of the car and the safety steward came up saying "We got a call from a corner worker who said he thought you weren't wearing a helmet. Man, I hope you had your helmet on." I looked him in the eye, blinked a couple of times, and said "Of course!" :-)

I went out for a qualifying session at Summit Point in my old ITS Sentra SE-R a couple years ago. Went around turn 1 and heard a "thump thump" from the back. Adjusted my mirror and saw my 35mm camera rolling around in the trunk. Drove slowly around, pulled into the pits, popped the trunk and had Karen take the camera out. Luckily it was a 30-year-old Pentax K1000 that I don't think will ever die.

I also had the passenger-side window handle fly off during a qualifying session in the same car. Thought it would be OK until it bounced around and ended up underneath the gas pedal. Again drove slowly around, pulled into the pits and chucked the handle out the window.

Also went out again in the SE-R and again at Summit and didn't realize that the passenger-side door window had gotten moved so I couldn't see a damn thing. Thought I would be OK until I passed somebody and couldn't gauge where in the heck the other car was. Again, drove slowly around, pulled into the pits and had Karen adjust the mirror.

Autocrossing is so much easier.

I made a legit effort to clear out the car, at one event, and still ended up with a shop vac attachment lodging itself under the pedal. Another lesson of slow down to go faster. That was my fastest run to that point, and I took the time to move that from under the pedal and kick back under the seat.....

A couple weeks ago I nearly ran over my center console lid. STILL DON'T KNOW WTF HAPPENED THERE.


Other than those two things I've been OK.

Only ther Mishap was an avoided one. When Pat drove the car last year in Toledo everything was fine. When I got the car home all the rear lugs were finger tight and the wheels were clanging around. Guess I forgot to tighten them.

Pat I think you'd like the car alot more now. Just wish 'I' could drive it.

So what class would the passengers put the Honda into? Prepared? Modified? Any limits on displacement on those things?

Yeah, that was me, and I still have the dress, though that may go into retirement.

Sounds like someone may have some explaining to do...

I didn't think so, but I do know a Frank Miller from Arizona whose son, Aaron Miller usually runs some sort of Dodge product, so I figured I'd ask.

I know the other Frank Miller. Having 2 Frank Millers running in the Arizona Region has been cause for confusion in the past. For a while we were being announced as Frank Camaro Miller and Frank Neon Miller. We've had our registrations, run orders, work groups etc. mixed up from time to time.
