Anyone know of a good ,cheap source for lexan windows for our third gen. Anybody got any laying around. Hahahah!~! laugh.gif

Are you looking for the molded window's like Jeg's is selling, or will flat Lexan sheets work for you?

I think flat could work but we would have to figure out a way to attach them since the back window is molded.
We are looking to replace all windows with lexan but for now just the rear and possibly the door windows.
Do you have any leads?

The windows in our car were already set up when we bought it, so I have no idea on the origin, but here is what we have for the rear:

The back 'glass' is made out of sheet lexan. It has black paint masking the edges, much like the factory rear glass. The rear deck lid was separated from the rear hatch and was 'gutted', that is, all inner panneling and strengthening was removed. The hatch hinges were also removed from the factory glass and reused on the lexan piece. There are 4 or 6 Dzus fasteners on the 'glass', two hold the sides down by the rear wheel arches, and a couple more hold the back corners down. There may be another pair near the center of the traing edge of the 'glass'. The back fasteners attach to a piece of square tubing that runs across the back of the car. This piece of tubing also is the attaching point for the front edge of the rear deck.

The rear deck has 5 Dzus fasteners holding it on, two on each side, and one in the middle, close to the leading edge of the deck lid. We remove the deck to access the fuel door to get to the cell and fill it with fuel. Usually, the 'glass' stays fastened down, unless the car is in the garage and work is being done in the back.

Alternatively, I have seen back lexan glass just screwed to the back of the car, and the deck lid mounted on small hinges allowing access to the back of the car. I kind of like that, but it would be difficult to implement with the back 'glass' set up the way ours is.

I know of several 3rd Gen CPers running at the 3000# weight who still have their glass. I guess they figure if they are carrying the weight, they might as well take advantage of what glass will give you. If we were building our car, I would probably consider at least sticking with real glass for the windshield.

Vitek Baruvka had real glass in the Nannar, and even had a fully-functioning rear hatch. Just something to think about.
