It needs a 93 transmission/aluminum flywheel/ and clutch swapped in to be a top notch ESP car.

Everything else is done, seat, engine build, bushings, shocks harness virtually ALL power mods, CCW's, T2R


If you want an ESP car this is your big chance. The rally cars are as good as gone next year.


I think it's time I start downsizing my autocrossing. If that means selling the car and just being a co-driver so be it. Even still next year will be a mostly off year for me.

Lon, you just bought a new tow rig? What's with the sudden change?

For anyone looking, I've ridden in this car, it's strong and quite fast.

I don't know I just have a burnt out feeling. And I really didn't do all that many events. I think the events that took entire weekends are what did that.


And on top of that as my son is getting older I'm just looking at some of the things my father and I did together and would like to do that with my son. And autoxing is interfering with that.


If nothing else I'll take a break next year.

I may be headed in the same direction when my wife's health declines further, but for now I compromise by only running single-day, local events.

There's a higher percentage of first-gear courses, but first gear can be a lot of fun with a strong engine.

Right now, my daughter loves hanging out in the garage. I still can't really do anything while she's there other than put a few tools away, but it's still fun. I leave some bright yellow poly endlink bushings scattered around as toddler magnets for her to find.

It will be six more years before she can try a kart (if she's interested by then), and family racing weekends are never gonna happen. Divisionals and Tours and such just take too much time away from other priorities.

On the bright side, you get more runs in one day at a local event

Which is why I only ran 2 National events this year, just takes too much time. I aim for autoXing 1.5 times a month; 2 times in the middle of the summer and 1 time a month otherwise. That's good enough for me. I wake up early Saturday mornings while my wife is sleeping in to work on the car if need be. In fact she just left for a buisness trip this morning for a week, so I'm going to get a lot of things done to the car this weekend. With a little sacrifice, autoX and working on the car don't have to take up your whole life.

After all the problems I had with my car this year I had to take a step back and remember that I'm doing all this work for something I enjoy because it's fustrating when things arn't going your way. Getting frustrated over a hobby is not the way it's supposed to work.

I would sell this car in a minute. BUT if I don't I won't really be dissapointed.

Like I said at the least I'll take next year off... Probably run the local Pro's because they are fun, and that's about it. Funny thing is though that on my "year off" I may go to nationals. Just since by that time of the year I won't be frustrated with the spending and travel/time away from home.


The tow rig can still get put to use. I stopped and looked at a 74 Scout II, w/a 401, fullsize axles and 35's and will probably take the wife by to look at it as well.
